BC Draft dusted off the cobwebs to post an interview with DLine coach Al Washington. What I appreciate about Washington is his positive outlook. Someone needs to be the believer and motivator and a young coach not that far removed from playing at BC can be that guy.

There was a flash mob in support of BC's Pete Frates.

BC unveiled its 2012-2013 commercial. They are going with the "birthday" theme. I'm glad they got Chris O'Donnell and Matty Ice involved but I don't know how the sesquicentennial theme will play to potential BC students.

One of the best things you'll read this week is BCI's Q&A with the New York Times Paul Myerberg. What I find interesting and refreshing is that Myerberg still thinks BC is a desirable job. It is a reminder that there is still hope.

Athough his twitter account has worried some BC fans, Spiffy Evans' interview with BC Draft shows that he is still committed to the Eagles. We just need the him to develop as a playmaker and run a kick off back too.

Reggie speculation and other links

Even though the feedback regarding his draft status has been mixed, it looks like Reggie Jackson is keeping his name in the process. Andy Katz has Jackson on the list of those keeping their names in the Draft. I've been told that Donahue is ready to move on and put the scholarship to use. I hope there is a last minute change because both sides could benefit from Reggie playing at BC next year.

The UFL's strategy regarding player development and NFL contracts makes a lot of sense. Now -- during the lockout -- they may be able to sign some borderline players. In turn those players commit to the UFL season but can join and NFL team after the UFL season ends. Most agents are advising their potential NFL clients to avoid the UFL and wait for the lockout to end. Rich Lapham is waiting out the process with hope of NFL free agency.

A few of the ZBC crew held an interview with Matt Humphrey. The transfer will be expected to fill much of the void if Reggie does leave.

BC Draft held a Q&A with Chase Rettig. In part 1 he talks about last season and the adjustment to Kevin Rogers.

BC lost the opener of their series with Georgia Tech here in Atlanta. The team is now just 6-12 in ACC play.

Nick LaSpada will camp at BC this year and wants to stay close to home. It looks like it might come down to BC or Harvard.

A BC OLine recruiting target from Ohio has osteogenic sarcoma. Let's hope the kid makes it through the process. B

Hockey wins, Rogers speaks and other links

In most of our championship years, York's teams started collecting trophies en route to the big one. Beanpot, Hockey East regular season, etc. Well with their win tonight, the Hockey team leaped ahead of UNH for first place in the Hockey East. The teams face off tomorrow night with BC having a chance to clinch the regular season title.

It wasn't all rosy though. Chris Kreider broke his jaw and is likely out for the remainder of the season.

The BC Draft crew held a Q&A with our new OC Kevin Rogers. Rogers doesn't tip his hand much regarding players or schemes. What is interesting is that he will seem to continue a BC tradition of Coordinators being secondary recruiters while the staffers are the primary. Many schools handle the recruiting among the staff that way but I've never really cared for it. I think you lose something if the coordinators are not actively on the road meeting the kids, talking to other coaches, etc. I also think that recruiting windows are so much smaller now, that more feet on the street can be useful.

Castonzo told WEEI that he does expect to be a first-round draft pick.

Castonzo's former bookend tackle Gosder Cherilus is battling knee issues again. If the Lions need a tackle, maybe they will take AC.

The ACC named Carolyn Sword to its All Academic team.

Attention ATL: Come drink with BC and Clemson fans

The BC Club of Atlanta has gotten together with the Clemson Alumni for a happy hour tomorrow (Tuesday) October 26. It will be at the Taco Mac on Roswell Road (the old Frankie's).

Clemson fans are always good people and you will probably be more happy with them now than you will be after Saturday.

Taco Mac is also donating two $25 gift cards to the two best-dressed Eagle and Clemson fans.

National Champions? and other links

Can BC win a national championship? ESPN thinks the pieces are there: friendly schedule, returning talent, luck. This is a classic ESPN filler article but I like the spirit of it all. 2007 though should be a lesson to us all. If we remain undefeated we will climb in the rankings. However, 2007 was also rare in that so many heavy weights dropped games early, clearing any logjams. If BC were to go undefeated, we would need some help getting into the national championship game. An extra win from the ACC Championship game would help our BCS standings and the Herzy story would get some humans to vote. We would also need the traditional powers to lose a game or two. I am not buying my plane tickets yet, but this is a reminder that we shouldn't lower expectations. We are a better team than the team our staff is poor mouthing in the press (TOB style).

Growing Power Lawrence Academy and other links

In all the back and forth regarding Max Ricci's commitment, I was left to wonder when did Lawrence Academy become such a power. They currently have four BCS commits and might get a fifth. The odds are that some of these guys will not pan out. Let's hope we have the pick of the liter.

CFN expects big things from Dillon Quinn and Johnathan Coleman

Jay Kenney is another late bloomer hoping to score a BC scholarship offer.

The football team visited Camp Harbor View. I am glad they continue to do these things. One afternoon can make a big difference.

Tony Thurman will be BC's honoree at the ACC legends event this year. I understand why they do it, but I still think it is silly that BC players who never set foot in teh ACC are now conference legends.

Max Ricci talks to Eagle Insider

The BC Draft crew caught up with our latest commitment over on Eagle Insider. Please note that it is a premium article (all recruiting news will be). I know that will disappoint some of you but know that is Scout's business model. My goal is to have the occasional free recruiting article and some sign-up specials as the season approaches. As you've seen the past few days, there will be plenty of free content too.

As for Ricci, he seems like a very thoughtful and well adjusted kid. I was impressed with what he had to say and hope that other schools don't try to poach him.

Matt Tennant has good things to say about Sean Devine and his time at BC. Matt also says he wants to go to law school after his playing career is over.

Troy Vincent was on campus to talk to the football players about finishing their degrees and life after football. I hope with all the agent news going on in college football, that he told them to be smart about their decisions off the field.

BC Draft's Interview with Castonzo

As I mentioned there will be many different voices at Eagle Insider. I was very excited when the BC Draft guys agreed to contribute and there first effort didn't dissappoint. They held an interview with Anthony Castonzo (PART I) and touched on a variety of topics both personal and related to Xs and Os.
