Once the NCAA overturned their ban on satellite camps, it didn't take long for the Big Ten powers to reschedule them. While the ACC, as a conference, is still against satellite camps, BC is taking the right kind of baby steps. Instead of making a splash and spending money hosting our first satellite camps, BC is joining friendly programs at their camps.
First BC will be part of Michigan's camp at Paramus Catholic. My guess is Don Brown helped put this together. Some other programs with ties to Harbaugh -- like Maryland -- will also be there.
Later BC will join Ohio State and Urban Meyer at St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida. Presumably this was via Addazio's relationship with Meyer.
The good news about these camps is that you get to see prospects who you might normally get to Boston. The bad news is that all the elite players will be focused on Michigan and Ohio State. But that is the risk you take when the other program runs the camp. It is the same sort of deal when Harvard or UNH come to BC's camps at Alumni during the summer. As long as we make inroads with some prospects, it is worth it.
I hope these are huge successes for BC and we learn how to operate a satellite camp and run our own in the near future.

Bates to Michigan chatter starts up again
Last year seemed like Brad Bates' chance to return to his Alma mater Michigan. But the Wolverines decided to keep their interim AD around for another year and postpone a full search. Now they are back in the AD market and Bates is on everyone's short list (via BCI).
This is all very preliminary, so there isn't much to get too worked up about. Bates seems like a good fit, but who knows what Michigan is looking for this time around.
Bates' BC goals are not close to being met, but he's left his stamp on the school with the Addazio and Christian hire. Because of the challenges that both programs faced recently, there are plenty of BC fans willing to help Bate pack for Ann Arbor. I don't dislike Bates, but also think now is probably the best time for him to go. His replacement would have plenty of time to evaluate the coaches, but not be under immediate pressure to make a change (like Bates was with Spaz). Plus the new AD could come in and lead the final public stages of the "master plan" and indoor practice facility. Bates has done most of the work already, so the projects wouldn't be as daunting for his replacement.
Given that AD hires aren't on the same sort of timelines as coaches, this might take a while. We will update our opinions on Bates as the story unfolds.

Bates says a lot of nothing and other links
Brad Bates gave very similar quotes to his hometown paper and to the Globe to say that he's happy at BC. We've read a million job denials in college sports only to see the denier take a new job days later. Is this different? I don't know. The fact that he felt the need to speak to two regional outlets makes me think that nothing is imminent. There is no pressure on any AD to comment on a job. He's not out recruiting or trying to hire a coach. Maybe he's getting ahead of the story knowing that Michigan is going in a different direction. I don't think any BC will truly know if Bates is staying until there is a new AD in Ann Arbor.
Hockey's struggles continued as they lost to Harvard 6-3 Tuesday night.
Syracuse.com produced a fair preview on the Basketball team. I am a little more optimistic about our upside than they are.
ESPN put out a feature on Murphy. I feel like they had it ready prior to his rough game Saturday since it doesn't really get into that slight setback. But it is nice to learn about more about our QB. Let's hope he ends the season on high note.
Goaltender Brian Billett left the Hockey team for undisclosed reasons. Alex Joyce joined the team in his place.
