The silver lining is that BC was still a tournament team during a transition year. As much as casual fans assume that the team can often just turn it on, not winning the Beanpot or Hockey East Tournament served as a warning sign. BC didn't have enough to hang with Denver as the Pioneers won 5-2.
BC finished the season 21-14-3. Even with the loss, the guys and Jerry York still deserve our thanks for another very good season.

Father Neenan passes, more recruits and other links
A long-time member of the Boston College community William B. Neenan, S.J. passed away Wednesday. Father Neenan came to BC in 1979 and serve the university in a variety of leadership capacities since. He will be missed by all.
The recruiting train continued Thursday. Mass CB/Athlete Taj-Amir Torres committed after camping. He's raw and without a natural position, but he's fast. Like really, really fast. Let's hope the staff has a plan for his ability. Joining him in the 2015 class is California DT Ray Smith. Smith has some decent west coast offers.
WR coach Todd Fitch's Florida roots were a big factor in Mehdi El Attrach decision.

Tennis' Matthew Wagner made the 2014 All-ACC Academic Men's Tennis Team.

USA Today previewed NC State. I was surprised by how bad NC State was last year, so I don't know if we can count on a rebound season this year. Bill Connelly at SBNation started publishing his ACC previews, including future opponents Wake Forest and Syracuse.

Demko at NHL Combine and other links
There were 11 goaltenders invited to the NHL Combine in Toronto. Most scouts consider BC's Thatcher Demko the top prospect at the position.
Rettig is one of many undrafted players trying to make the Packers. But given the Packers' history with QB development and their willingness to carry four QBs during the offseason, Rettig will have plenty of time to impress.
