After struggling this season, the Lions cut Nate Freese. I am surprised with his struggles considering his accuracy last year. I am sure he will get a second shot at the NFL.

El Attrach on board and other links

It has been a busy summer for Addazio's recruiters. The latest news is that Florida Athlete Mehdi El Attrach committed. Mehbi has decent size and good speed. I could see him growing into a linebacker. But as an athlete, they are not slotting him for any position yet. He could also play WR or DB. While not highly ranked, he does have a decent list of offers.

Soaring to Glory posted a map of the hometowns of Addazio's recruits. The map reinforces our slight shift from the Midwest to more emphasis on the ACC states.

This is the time of year where everyone produces their respective list ranking any and everything in college football. This one has Addazio as the 10th best coach in the conference. It is still so early in his tenure here at BC, that I don't know how anyone can really rank accurately. Athlon didn't think much of our individual defensive players, but ESPN thinks Daniels might surprise.

BC's color commentator Pete Cronan had some of his best seasons with the Redskins, so it is only natural that he has an opinion on the team name.

USA Today previewed NC State. I was surprised by how bad NC State was last year, so I don't know if we can count on a rebound season this year. Bill Connelly at SBNation started publishing his ACC previews, including future opponents Wake Forest and Syracuse.

ESPN thinks November will be the toughest part of the schedule.

This is the time of year when sites start releasing their team previews. Often they are done worst to first. Given how BC finished and what's returning, Rant Sports ranked BC at 98th overall. They expect a 5-7 finish, which seems fair. They also need to update the write up now that Coleman is gone.

Women's Soccer upsets FSU and other links you might have missed this week

Huge win for the Women's Soccer team last night as they beat No. 1 Florida State 3-2 in Newton. It was BC's first win over the Seminoles. Miraculously BC was the first ACC team to score on Florida State this year. The team faces Miami on Sunday.

The brightside to Spaz's poor recruiting? Even if he is fired, we are unlikely to lose any of our recruits since no one wants them according to Rivals. In the same article Pat Forde also calls BC a tough job. I will address that idea at a future date.

Rachid Ibrahim verballed to Pitt, spurning BC and Iowa.

CBS thinks Georgia Tech will win. So does Soaring to Glory.

ICYMI: links from the week

Clemson's biggest playmaker Sammy Watkins will miss Saturday's game with a virus. That has shifted the point spread a bit. Also, it looks like Bobby Swigert will make his season debut.

As you may have read, one of Hockey's top incoming players Frank Vatrano is no longer enrolled at BC. It was not a BC issue, but an NCAA clearing house issue. What's interesting is that he is working to keep his college eligibility even though he is no longer a student.

Controversial Connecticut WR David Coggins is no longer committed to BC. This is probably best for everyone as you never know what the NCAA might say about his future eligibility.

Conte to get Air Conditioning and other links

The new AD will have one less issue to tackle as BC announced they will add air conditioning to Conte Forum in summer 2013. This has been a long-time hot button among BC Hockey fans as the arena's ice never held up under warm temperatures, most famously in the fogged out game against North Dakota. Even with the announcement there are still many other issues related to renovations at Conte to address.

As the BC blogosphere and twitterverse have grown, we all seem to be commenting on the same topics. But there are some unique voices out there that might get lost in the noise. Here are some other BC folks who at times are overlooked or not given enough credit. Follow their work for insight, passion and humor.

BCMike: twitter and BC Draft. Mike is a fellow Georgia transplant and has been active on various BC message boards and platforms for years.

Dave Levy: twitter and Heights and Lows. Dave's twitter feed is not exclusively BC sports, but it is media and sports heavy. Heights and Lows takes a more lighthearted approach to BC sports.

The Heights: twitter and tumblr. The Heights Sports section is in the middle of a great run. For the past six or seven years they've been building their depth, improving their reporting and breaking more news.

Greg Joyce: twitter. Greg will edit the Heights Sports section next football season. With the fate of Spaz, Gene and the ACC in play, the Fall will not lack for storylines or news.

Stephen Sikora: twitter. Another Heights Sports staff writer. He live tweets during games.

Austin Tedesco: twitter. Austin closed the school year with a strong Steve Donahue interview.

Prof. Ed Taylor: ETEagle Blog. CSOM Accounting Professor and die hard BC fan.

Eric Hoffses: twitter. As I've said before, I am not a fan of Eagle Action, but I am a fan of Hoffses. He is easily the best guy covering -- not just commentating on -- BC sports.
