More opponent previews

As the season nears, USA Today keeps posting more team previews. Since our last update, the site added Pitt and Syracuse breakdowns. As always Paul Myerberg does a great job with these write ups.

Opponent Previews for UMass and Wake Forest

Every year Paul Myerberg writes individual team previews worthy of any magazine preview. Fortunately for us, he has already started rolling them out. He posts them by his predicted ranking and starts with the worst first. The two bottom dwellers that Myerberg already posted are Wake and UMass.

Even as Grobe's Wake teams slid back to their historical norm, they still gave BC tough games. The only reason so little is expected of them this season is due to the wholesale changes made by the new staff. Myerberg predicts a season where they still struggle offensively.

UMass is a trainwreck and one of the worst teams in FBS. Mark Whipple won't change that overnight. Myerberg knows that if they are going to have a miracle season, they need to upset BC in the opener.

More previews and other links

The season is approaching so it is time to catch up on your previews. Here are a few from Paul Myerberg that we haven't highlighted yet: Wake Forest | North Carolina | NC State | Syracuse.

The Hurricanes signed Nathan Gerbe.

Women's basketball will play in the Cancun Challenge.

Soaring previews and other links

If you haven't been following Soaring To Glory's numeric previews, you need to use the Fourth to catch up. Here is 59.

It looks like the Sabres are going to release former BC star Nathan Gerbe.

Matt Ryan and Tom Condon have a chance to get Matt a massive new contract. But I do expect Matt to take a cap-friendly deal so Atlanta can keep surrounding him with talent.

Here is a good preview of Maryland. How was BC not the low-point of last season?

Scouting reports on NM State and Army

Paul Myerberg moved over to USA Today, but is still pumping out great team previews. He is posting them in order, from worst to first. So far he's already recapped two of our opponents.

Myerberg ranked Army 106th. Army is still bad and thankfully we are not one of their "toss up" games.

New Mexico State is 121st. Myerberg also notes (and somewhat mocks) Spaz's contribution to New Mexico State's offseason.
