With Petrino in the ATL, is Simms in play?

Matt Simms seemed perfect for BC. He’s a Bosco kid supposedly looking for a pro-style offense, but not wanting to head to a football factory. His father thought very highly of BC and Chris Simms strongly considered transferring to the Heights during some of his darker moments in Texas. But for whatever reason the youngest Simms never clicked with the TOB staff and committed to Louisville.

Could you blame him? Bobby Petrino offered one of the most QB-friendly systems in the country and some of his ex-Bosco teammates were lukewarm on the TOB BC staff.

Well all that’s changed. Petrino is heading south to coach the Falcons. What does it mean for Matt? More importantly, what does it mean for BC? Well Jags’ first priority is hanging on to TOB’s commits. But once he has those kids locked up, it won’t hurt to try to pick up someone who turned down the old staff. Simms seems like a perfect candidate.

We don’t need a QB in this class, but getting a big name like Simms will make a big difference for Jags on the recruiting trail this year and next year. And Petrino leaving could be just the first domino that helps Jags bring back quality players to Boston.
