Final Blogpoll ballot

I have no idea what to make of the season. I also don't think LSU is that great. The ranking below is a hodge podge of resume, records and good old-fashioned subjectivity. Playoffs anyone?

1 LSU
2 Georgia
3 Kansas
4 Southern Cal
5 Missouri
6 West Virginia
7 Oklahoma
8 Virginia Tech
9 Ohio State
10 Boston College
11 Texas
12 Tennessee
13 Auburn
14 Florida
15 Brigham Young
16 Arizona State
17 Clemson
18 Texas Tech
19 Illinois
20 Michigan
21 Wisconsin
22 Cincinnati
23 Oregon
24 Virginia
25 Oregon State

Are you on crack? You picked Kansas over USC? That same Kansas team that looked very unimpressive against a flat out bad Va Tech team? USC is by far and away the best team in the country. Both of its losses came when Booty was injured.

braves bill, i don't think you can say USC is "by far and away" the best team in the country when they won their bowl game essentially at home against a very inexperienced illini team that was overmatched to begin with. i think georgia or LSU would give USC a run for their money.

i agree though, how can you put kansas over USC? they had ONE win over a ranked team, and they lost to mizzou. i think you have to put mizzou above them.

LSU, Georgia, USC is a good top 3.

USC lost to Stanford...enough said.

USC lost to Stanford yes, but Booty played with a broken finger contributing to his 4 INTs. There were also 4 injuries to starters on defense.

bravesbill, please spare me the 'woe is USC' talk because booty was hurt and there were starters on D that were hurt.

the last THREE season USC has had the consensus number 1 recruiting class in the country. they are, hands down, the deepest team in the country. they had mark sanchez, a high school all american, backing up booty who could have gone in. in addition, they could have run the ball with one of their SEVEN parade all american running backs. taking that into account, they shouldn't lose to stanford at home and shouldn't be rated higher than USC or georgia, both of whom play in a MUCH MUCH MUCH tougher conference than the pac-10, which was royally exposed throughout the season as being overhyped.

USC with the best recruiting classes every year - lost to Stanford because of the quarterback's broken finger. They should have played the 2nd string quarterback - shame on them.

How about BC without arguably our best linebacker Brian Toal (Shoulder surgery) , best defensive lineman B.J. Raji (academics), best offensive lineman Ryan Poles (torn Achilles) , (shutdown) cornerback DeJuan Tribble (knee) , Defensive End Alex Albright (broken arm), speedster and kick returner Jeff Smith (Concussion), our long snapper Jack Geiser (knee injury), PK Billy Bennett, (chronic bad back) Strong safety Wes Davis (concussion; neck injury), Free safety Marty Bowman (bad knee I think) and linebackers Dunbar and Pruitt playing on guts alone, through ankle injuries etc.

If those guys were available for every game, we probably would have been the ACC Champions and who knows where in the national rankings? #3 maybe?
