Dillon named Preseason ACC POY

A day after I said the ACC Media doesn't respect BC, they went out and voted AJ Dillon the Preseason Player of the Year. Seeing Dillon honored as well as three other Eagles on the All Conference Preseason team, makes the 4th place finish all that more surprising. I guess they don't trust Addazio to put this talent together in a way to challenge the top of the division.

It is a great honor for Dillon and will raise his profile that much more. He was going to be the focal point of the offense. Now he will be the focal point of the media coverage too. If his game is developing and the other guys step up, BC's offense should be explosive.

Preseason awards don't mean squat. Postseason awards matter. If he stays healthy, Dillon will be in the mix. Fingers crossed. This could be a really good season.

Besides Dillon and AB's comeback from injury - the other interesting questions for the season will be:

- how Baker fits back into the OL scheme and the center spot with Petrula? Also like Johnson coming back and the potential in Dirstine.

- do we have a reliable punter and kicker for kick offs among two freshmen and a RS sophomore? We had a gem in that German kid from the soccer team last year (Schulz Geisthovel).

- will Conner Stachan and Max Richardson return to their pre injury form? We look to be pretty deep at LB and Lamot was a nice surprise last year. Isaiah McDuffie and the freshman Hugh Davis look promising. Will also be interesting to see what we have in the new LB coach brought over from the Lions.

- who will back up at DT and DE spots? Will be interesting to see Barlow, Betro and Bennermon perform based on HS reps.

- what do we have in David Bailey? This kid was a superb HS running back in MD and a solid recruit.

- who backs up AB? How do the freshman QB's look? Valeece can throw.

- depth at WR - just keep Michael Walker and Kobay White on the field as much as possible.

- can Tito Pasqualoni (Fr - TE) cover for his dad? Seriously, who will be on the sideline to give Daz a gameday sounding board? That has to be important for any HC. Talking into the headphones is not the same as someone next to you (who can also grab you by the arm when you lose it).

Well said, Nap.

The honor for Dillon raises the bar for expectations on the part of the Dazzler. He has a honeymoon for the first three games not counting the two lightweights. Till then, it is time to "get the torches ready". Just a reminder about Coconut Grove and Holy Cross. The nightclub burned down and BC wasn't there because HC pulled a gigantic upset.

Meaning it's very possible if not likely that one of the creame puffs could upset BC, derailing s
all the optimistic claims for 8-9 wins. (Not to mention Purdue away will be a tough nut to crack.)

Sad but true prognosis.

Are these the same computers that pick BC to finish last in the division every year?
