That is the ugliest 37-17 win you'll ever see. But 2-0 in the ACC is all that matters. It's also nice to have the TOB stuff behind us for now. Initial thoughts:
-- The Oline is getting better and I think LV and AC will thrive in the scheme
-- The defense was classic Spaz (and that is a backhanded compliment)
-- The punt coverage was excellent. the kickoffs...not so much
-- I thought Ryan and the WRs would struggle and they did
A win is a win. Bring on Tech! I'll have grades and second viewing thoughts up late Sunday.

I agree. Very ugly win, but I'll take it. Great adjustment by BC coaching staff at half. Still, I have to give TOB credit for hanging with us much longer than they should have.
Ryan - Subpar game, but his receivers did not help much and I think it was clear the game plan was to run the ball in the heat.
Running backs - It's nice to have you back. Over 240 yards. Wow! If we can get decent running performance, look out.
Defense: 67 yards rushing by NC State, but most of those were on the final drive with the scrubs in the game. They allowed 352 in the air but were saved by 6 turnovers. Looks like Spaz is content to stop the run and force teams to beat us in the air. None have done so so far.
Kick-offs still an issue. Ayers All ACC punter.
Monumental task to beat Georgia Tech but I think this team will only get better. I think we will hang close with Tech and maybe we can luck out a win.
I'm way too hammid (Mass accent!) to comment too much, and admittedly I got killed on my gambling picks today (I had both Cal and Michigan covering). But, BC doing well will make up for it all. Nothing like BC being 2-0 in the ACC and TOB being 0-2!
why so glum? BC just sent The Hen packing with a 20 point defeat. It is a great day in BC sports history. Myself and many other BC fans were in attendance to give The Hen the welcome and goodbye he deserved. Live in the moment.
Why is it a monumental task to beat GT? They beat ND and Samford, big whoop. Our Run D is pretty filthy, so that should at least contain Tashard Choice somewhat... even though he is the best senior RB in the nation.
I think Ryan will outshine Taylor Bennett and we will come away victorious.
is there a reason why Johnny Ayers does not do kickoffs for this team?? I mean, isn't that an obvious solution????
GTech is going to be a tough game, but winnable nonetheless. The kinks continue to work themselves out offensively, and I am pleased to see Logan's commitment to the run early yesterday. After last week, it was quite a surprise (and not something O'Brien could have anticipated).
The defense makes me nervous. Barring turnovers, opponents continue to march down the field on us with ease. Takeaways have saved us, but we can't rely on them. This whole bend, don't break scheme. If we stop them inside our own twenty, why don't we try and stop them on their side of the field?
As a follow up to the Ayers comment- I don't think it would be wise to have our punter doing kickoffs. The two skills are vastly dissimilar, and I would only advocate the move if he wasn't booting the ball inside the twenty regularly- he is a great weapon. That said, the kicking game over the past few years has been unacceptable. The fact that we can't get anyone (including the most highly touted kicking recruit in the country) to consistently keep the ball in the field of play is absurd. I say all of this knowing that kicking a football is not extremely difficult... Someone give Ed Kelly a call and see if one of our soccer players wants to make a switch.
From the nosebleeds I swear nc state only had 10 guys on the field for LV's td run. Did they say anything about this on tv or can anyone with a tape confirm that?
Our defense has looked shaky because we do give our opponent great field position with the crappy kickoffs.
Seriously, if Bennett was the most sought after kicker in the whole country, we need to go to Mexico or Portugal and get a kicker.
I'd say give Ayers some reps; he can't be worse.
I laugh everytime I hear it, but I don't know the signifigance. Why is TOB called "The Hen?"
USA Today has BC ranked 19th
I'm not sure the DC deserves a back-handed compliment. The bend-but-don't-break might not be pretty, but it produced a pretty easy win.
NC State couldn't run...and they could pass, but not when they needed too--ie. in the red zone, and on 3rd down. Save the garbage time TD, the D gave up 10 points and scored 7. I'll take that every week.
