Chris S. did a great job capturing the action from the second game of the Hockey East playoffs.

What is the deal with the crummy turnout? I remember (many moons ago) when BC hockey was HUGE and there were tons of students at every game.
I have often wondered if, with the entrance requirements as rigorous as they now are, and so many VERY bright kids, the students attending are often not into sports as much as in the past? Just a thought...
Hockey Games still fill up... but I think the fact that the opponent was Providence that dosen't produce much exitement and that it was St. Patrick's Day weekend many students just partied... But Hockey is still huge and got LOTS of more fans in the seats than basketball...the game against North Dakota UNH and BU (Both) were all filled to the rafters
Finally, a site where SEC fans and ACC fans can talk smack to each other! The site is a little SEC heavy right now, so sign up and represent your Eagles for the ACC! Just register for free at http://www.accvssec.com/forum/index.php . And please invite your friends!
St. Patrick's Day Weekend played a role, and at then end of the day, it was only Providence.
For the most part, games this year have been attended quite well (student section full, etc.) and for big games (BU, etc.) must have been close to capacity attendance (not just ticket sales). These playoff tickets had to be purchased individually, making it harder for season-ticket holding students just to grab season tickets and head on down like a traditional game.
Not making excuses, but hockey attendance is still going strong (wish I could say the same thing about basketball...).
Blame the poor turnout squarely on BC Athletics. No advertising for the game, only a small link on the athletic dept website.
I wouldn't blame athletics for the student turnout. We received at least 3, maybe 4 emails asking us to come and tickets were only $5 for students. Maybe regular fans weren't subject to advertisement, but students were and there was plenty of notice. For some reason (probably St. Patrick's Day) they just chose not to come.
I agree that it wasn't the athletics department's fault... they put up posters throughout campus sent various e-mail and the tickets were very cheap... but I think due to the opponent and the weekend attendance was poor... et's not forget BC had the best attendace in the conference for Hockey East games with 81,906 ans in 14 games which translates into an average of 5,85o fans per game...
