Jags 2.0 begins with a solid start

One side of the ball looked the same. The other (the offense) was unlike any BC team of the modern era. Good effort from the BC defense. Hats off to them for the shutout. Crane looked more like Tebow than Ryan. BC is now a spread option team. The line looked great. I was pleased with Haden and Jeff Smith. Crane was a bit uneven. He's certainly an athlete and ran well. The passing game looked...raw. But no real complaints about the start. One win down when most of the ACC is struggling.

Sunday, the newest baby girl ATL is getting baptised so the second viewing thoughts might not be up until late Sunday. Leave your thoughts on the game below.

I did not expect to see such a spread option attack. Its different from what I've seen in the ACC (outside of Ga Tech) and we should provide problems for other teams this year. However, against more athletic teams we may struggle. Good start but this team will definitely be carried by the D.

Congratulations on the baptism of your baby daughter. God bless you and your family. Let's go Eagles!

Time for Ms. Dinich to write a mea culpa. 7-point margin-of-victory my ass.

Makes you realize how lousy the local newspaper coverage is that we didn't see the option coming. They must have practiced it a decent amount. Blaudschun probably just drives down Beacon St. and glances at the practice field on his way to the mailbox. Anyways, I feel so great about this team after last night combined with Vtech, UVA, and Clemson all losing.

I don't know why you guys are so hard on Blaudschun. He's got the option thing covered. From his blog post about the game: "[Crane]did as much with his feet as with his arm, running for a pair of touchdowns which gave the PATRIOT ground game added oomph."

Who says Boston is a pro sports town?

Blaudy has mailed it in for some time now.

So, I wasn't able to watch most of the game. Did anyone besides Crane get any snaps at QB?

D Davis didn't get any time at QB, which was kind of a shock. I hope we don't make the same mistake as last year (not getting our back-up any experience). D looked good, but had a few breakdowns in contain or assignment, which should improve. Passing game was really raw - needs to improve to use our talent at receiver and prevent the better teams from stacking the box. Run game looked solid. I said all along Crane is Tebow light, and he looked it.

I was able to watch the game on a web stream. It was free as indicated by a commenter in you during the game session. When will CT area cablevision start carrying ESPNU? We all need to get on their a*&!

The Eagles looked pretty good.
Crane played weel, Smith and Haden look like they will be good. Brian Toal was a stud. The entire defense were studs!

Let's bring on the Yellow Jackets and see what we can do in'in conerence'.

Go Eagles!

And thanks for maintaining your blog site. It's the best BC focused blog around by far!!

I feel foolish complaining about such a solid start, but I must say I would have liked us to maybe try throwing a little more just to see what Crane can do. Any news on Jeff Smith? It looked like a stinger but I will be scared all season long when he lowers his head.

Also, why on earth are we still running Toal in short yardage? McCluskey seems perfectly good at that and we cannot risk Toal's health with his lateral speed on D that will be so vital against teams like Ga Tech and Wake and Clemson. Smith, Haden and Crane looks like a great backfield, and with Logan calling the shots I am confident our team can put up 24 or so points a game, which should be enough to win a good number of games. Pass rush looked great, though a few times our guys were going a bit too fast and overran the QB allowing him to scramble.

All in all though, fantastic result, plenty of promise for the future, and we survived when few others in the ACC did. Go Eagles!

any word on the other (freshmen) RBs as far as who is getting redshirted and who might see some time in the backfield with Haden and J Smith?

Do we need 3 backs? Especially if McCluskey can do short yardage. How much time did AJ see last year? Better save the year of eligibility.

Does anyone know where I can find highlights of the game on the internet?

ORDEagle said...

Off topic but I see where Jaime Silva made the 53 man roster for the Colts. Dunbar was cut by the Saints as was Ryan Poles by the Bears. Tribble made the Chargers.

any place to find highlights or game action on the web? feel like bc got no love on espn this past weekend.

Claver, you referring to AJ Brooks? He's off the team

Marcos - I think his point was that, last year, Brooks was BC's third back and rarely, if ever, played.

Unfortunately, with the early injury to Smith, we may need three backs this year.
