Northeastern. Win. No scare. We cruise to an easy win and find our QB of the future early into the season.
Kent State. Win. Another confidence booster. Our run defense might not be as strong as last years, but teams are having trouble in the passing game.
At Clemson. Win. The first game where the rest of the college football world takes notice. Signature win for Spaz early on as his formula of grind it out and tough D steals a game in Death Valley.
Wake Forest. Win. Wake is rebuilding in key areas too. This is a back and forth affair. BC comes out on top late. This win gets us in the Top 25. The media starts with the "Spaz was the real reason for TOB and Jags' success" talk.
Florida State. Loss. Like 2005 and 2007, Florida State kills the mood at a BC night game. Our young QB plays like a freshmen and the defense has trouble containing Ponder.
At Virginia Tech. Loss. Even in our best scenarios, we don't win on the road in Blacksburg with a freshman QB.
NC State. Win. This game means a lot to Spaz for a variety of reasons. I think our D creates multiple turnovers and we keep TOB winless against BC.
At Notre Dame. Win. How could I have a best case situation and not include a win in South Bend? Notre Dame is improved but our defense creates all sorts of problems and we win.
Central Michigan. Win. Coming off big wins against NC State and Notre Dame, this would be a classic trap game. BC holds on, despite looking terrible at times.
At Virginia. Win. Virginia has thrown in the towel by the time we face them. We win by pounding away.
North Carolina. Loss. This is just a bad matchup for us and the Heels come up to Boston and pick off pass after pass again.
At Maryland. Win. We control throughout and end the regular season on a high note.
A 9-3 (5-3) regular season is considered a smashing success given the obstacles. We tie Florida State for the division but they go to Tampa via their head-to-head win.
ACC parity hurts us once again in the bowl selection process. We are sent to San Francisco to play Stanford. We beat the Cardinal and finish the season 10-3 and firmly in the Top 25.

I certainly hope THIS doesn't happen. I can't begin the number of coaching jobs vaporized if BC has the temerity to surprise after THIS offseason. University Presidents all around the country would ask their ADs & coaches: "How does Boston College manage to graduate players in legit degrees, fail to kowtow to 5-star recruits, and then actually DEFEAT us? Why should you have your job?"
In this economy, it wouldn't be right for a team like Boston College to hold hostage the lives of so many good coaches around college football. People who put in 7-day, 90-hour weeks even in June and July supervising captains' practices, visiting recruits' hometowns, and arranging externship opportunities with automobile dealerships. These are good men, coaches who CARE for their charges, and I'd hate to see an uppity place like Boston College ruin their livelihoods.
I think Best Case would be us winning the ACC and going to the Orange Bowl. Frankly I don't see Clemson, FSU and VTECH beating us. I think we will (well not me) but everyone else is going to be plesently surprised. This team is going to be very very very good!
you are so lame.
LETS GO EAGLES!
Here's to hoping you have some inside angle that no one else sees Vinny, and hope for that ACCCG to go well for the good guys..
Vinny,
Have you been eating those 40th Anniversary Woodstock Brownies?
"The media starts with the "Spaz was the real reason for TOB and Jags' success" talk."
Bill, the "media" (you) just did. Good of you to get the ball rolling.
Vinnie, from your mouth to God's ears. BC is going to surprise folks this year.
GO EAGLES...and their Emotional Coach Mark H.
I think we have a good shot at this scenario actually playing out. Of course, the worst case could play out as well, but I just don't see it happening as much as I see our best case happening. We will continue to go back and forth with FSU and there's no way we beat a Virginia Tech, but that's more we don't be Lane Stadium, not the team itself. I'm not so sure about the Heels though, they're good there's no doubt, but Hakeem Nicks pretty much singlehandedly picked apart our defense last year and he'll be busy in New York...I think the UNC game will be a good one to watch.
I am now officially pumped up for the season. Great job ATL
Amen, Vinny! No better time for optimism.
It's only a matter of time before it becomes OBVIOUS to the rest of the media that Spaz carried TOB and Jags.
Who on the sideline is not going to respond to in your face motivation by Herzy?
Our time is now. No respect or expectations from ANYONE outside the Heights.
LET'S GO EAGLES!!
As many of you may know by now - but for those who don't - Shinskie did pretty well today.

He will almost certainly get some playing time in Saturday's opener against Northeastern.
Spaziani said he liked what he saw.
Justin Tuggle will start at QB, but Shinksie will get some work against Northeastern.......
"You can't prepare three QBs (for a game),'' said Spaziani, who made it clear that the pecking order will change again if Shinskie is indeed healthy, with Tuggle, Shinskie and freshman Michael Marscovetra occupying the first three slots.
Codi Boek will have to find another way to contribute.
I'm with the optimists - let's go Eagles. And for a change, don't let Northeastern hang around - this is the most important game of the season right now - let's blow them out!!!!!! That will set us on the right track.
ESPN's TMQ had this to say about Jags:
Now, who should appear on the new Bucs coaching staff but Jeff Jagodzinski, who in January shafted his own team, Boston College, by trying to weasel out of his contract for more money with the Jets. Jagodzinski signed a five-year deal as Boston College head coach, then after two years was trying to break the deal. TMQ's immutable Law of Weasel Coaches: When you hire a coach who's only in it for himself, you get a coach who's only in it for himself. At least Jagodzinski is a perfect fit for the Buccaneers' program!
I think a best-case scenario of BC making the San Francisco bowl is pretty apt. I expect a breakout year from either Haden or Harris.
Seriously the National Media is down on BC for two reason. 1) New coach 2) Lack of QB experience.
There are many things people are forgetting:
1) We ran all over every team we played last year with two Freshman RBs. Those guys are back and stronger and better than last year. Also we have Jeff "the rocket" Smith back for his last year. Plus our FBs are back
2) We'll have the best OL in the ACC, most of whom played together last year
3) Our WRs are good they were good last year and they will be better this year
4) Our QB was unproven last year and frankly WE HAD NO QB LAST YEAR!!!! OUR QB PLAY WAS AWFULL!! SERIOUSLY WE SUCKED AT QB LAST YEAR AND IT DIDN'T HURT US! Why couldn't we be better this year?
5) With or without #94 our D is going to be sick. We have a great secondary and our LBs will be good.
Spaz always has us ready on D
6) We have a new coach. Really? Seems to me he's been here for more than a decade. Hmmmmm would you really call him new? What has been our strength the past many years? I would say our D. Who's our "new" coach? Oh that's right our old D Coordinator.
Trust me the ACC better watch out. Take us lightly and once again we'll be in Tampa.
THIS TEAM WILL BE GOOD!
