I was pretty excited for my first chance to watch BC basketball this year, but with Rakim out, Roche hurting, and Trapani with the flu (so I hear), my excitement has been tempered. Hopefully Manny Harris has an off night, since he has been Michigan's whole team thus far this year.

An injured Creighton team took Michigan to OT. We should give them a game.

I missed it awhile back - what's wrong with Rakim? How long will he be out?

He's played 5 minutes all year. Highly sprained ankle against St. Joes, I don't see him back this weekend either.

So far so good ... Nice in-your-face defence and Raji is making it look easy on the offensive end.

Although I fully expect the regular 3-minutes before halftime collapse.

watching the bball team try to close one out is eerily reminiscent of watching the football team try the same...

Haha. So true, CT.

This game should not have been close. Michigan is not good. But I'll take a hard-fought win in a hostile environment any day. BC will look better with Rakim back.

A lot of ups and downs in this game, though I was very glad to finally be able to watch a game this year. I loved Corey's energy in the first half. He made so many great cuts and was awesome on the boards on both ends. Our offense early on showed how effective this group can be when they spread the floor. They gashed the 1-3-1 and probably would have been even deadlier with a slasher like Rakim on the floor. The rebounding was pretty good all game, as was the on-ball defense.

The bad: there were several stretches were this group was completely unable to run the tight flex. When Michigan went 2-3, Al responded by going really tight. We don't have the post-up scorer to make the flex work efficiently. The beginning of the game really showed, in my opinion, that wider spacing is the way to go with this good passing squad. Even Southern is a pretty decent passer! The outside shooting also wasn't great, but it didn't matter as Michigan is a terrible rebounding team. Trap didn't get involved much on offense, deferring to Corey and Reggie.

Roche gave us some decent minutes, playing okay defense and crashing the boards. I really loved seeing Rakim up on the bench in the second half helping to set the defense. He was really into the game and, hopefully, that kind of leadership and focus will help when he gets back on the court.

I think its worth noting 3 of the ACC wins were BC, Miami, and VaTech

I was thinking the same thing, Erik.

Claver2010...Rakim has a high ankle sprain, not a highly sprained ankle.
