I was sitting very close to this photographer.

Does anyone know what we should make of the FG kicker (not Freese, not Quigley)?

Looks like a regular season home crowd...

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but after seeing him at the draft I'm pretty sure the guy to the right in the third photo is Haden. Didn't know he was still around

I'm very interested to see how O'Brien handles the four players hit with drug charges over the weekend. At BC he always came down hard on players, even star ones (ie. Willie Green before UM game) so it should be interesting to see if he will maintain this approach or yield to the pressures of a large public university.

The local take on Brian Miller's commitment

Andover's Brian Miller embraced the recruiting process. He was flattered by it.

The coast-to-coast rush ended this weekend in sheer elation as Miller, the Warrior junior two-sport sensation, verbally committed to a full football scholarship at Boston College.

"The whole process was exciting and all the attention from all these schools was very cool," said the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Miller, a two-way end for the Warriors.

Clemson, Iowa, Michigan, UNC, Northwestern, Penn State, Stanford, UCLA and Virginia were among the 15 offers that Miller already had corralled.

BC held one distinct advantage over all the others: proximity.

"Sure, that had something to do with it, being able to come home whenever I needed to and my family having the chance to see me play," said Miller. "But I've spent a lot of time there on a lot of visits. I've been to football games and basketball games.

"I've really gotten to know the coaches and players there. I've grown to love it. I just knew that it's the place for me."

Miller is coming off back-to-back huge seasons. On the football field, he caught 35 passes for 485 yards and six TDs. This winter in an Eagle-Tribune All-Star hoop season, he tossed in 10.1 points and grabbed nine rebounds per game.

Unlike springs past, Miller eschewed the AAU hoop grind this year, focusing solely on strength and conditioning for the gridiron.

"All I'm thinking about is getting stronger and getting ready for the fall," said Miller. "I'm very excited about coach (E.J.) Perry and the new offense. He was my fifth grade teacher. I've played against his team in the Christmas Tournament. I know he's a good coach and can't wait for the season."

At BC, Miller projects as a tight end, something he's discussed with the coaches there often.

"That's definitely my preferred position," said Miller, who ran a 4.69 40-yard dash for the coaches at the BC camp last summer.

Miller has a 4.69 in the 40

I looked a this year's NFL draft combine results and the top #4,5, and 6 fastest TEs at the combine also ran a 4.69.

Whoa!!!

Definitely addressing the DE issue this year.

Hopefully these two DEs will continue our tradition of amazing defenders with funny sounding names.
