Davies is the US's biggest supporter
Lost in the excitement and controversy surrounding one of the best games in the history of US Soccer, is that the Americans are playing without one of their top goal scorers, BC guy Charlie Davies. Given all he's been through (horrific car accident, hard recovery, followed by disappointing cut from the US team) no one would blame Davies if he chose to keep a low profile and deal with the emotions of this all by himself. Fortunately for us, he's not. He's out in front cheering on his teammates and country men. We obviously miss his skills, but I think the team misses his spirit, hence the flat openings. Hopefully Charlie's cheering section will send positive vibes to the boys for the rest of their run.

The US had a ton of flat openings even with Davies playing. Plus it has been how long since Davies played his last game? If the US can't adjust to his absence in that time or come out on fire to start a World Cup game, the players do not deserve to be on the team and the team doesn't deserve to make it out of the opening round.
The problem is that there really wasn't a suitable option to replace Davies. Findley is the "speed" guy, but he doesn't have Davies' touch on the ball or strength. I'm confident that the US will pull together to get the required 3pts off of Algeria and advance to the knockout round. We're too good to go home, Davies or not.
Findley is terrible. Buddle should have been starting.
Buddle? Come on man, put Dempsey or Donovan up top and put Feilhaber or Holden out on the wing. Gomez or Buddle can come off the bench if necessary.
