2011 Football Poster

BC released its new poster this morning. My thoughts below the image.

I am really glad they ditched the cliched players posing theme that every college uses. I like the idea of the action shot. My only complaint though is that there is a lot going on in this image and you can't identify some of the players without their numbers. As for the slogan: "everyday is gameday"...not bad. Let's hope Spaz -- whose gameday acumen is in question -- shares that mentality as he preps and coaches the team this year.

Any idea where to get a higher res of this to use as wallpaper?

I like how it looks like a game of pick-up. Cool idea.

The defense looks outstanding with lots of form and skills. You can see that the blocking is suspect and a work in progress.

Note the BC logo in the moon.

I don't mind that they don't have numbers. As one of the types of fans who visit the BC sites every day, it's kinda cool to know I can identify the people by face & hair-do. Plus, the people who usually grab these posters are the young kids who don't know anyway.

I also like how it looks like off-season work since that is how you get better.

Quite a few "old school" programs adhere to the rule of no names on the home jerseys, because true fans shouldn't need them & BC the players should care more about showing casing the team name over their own.

Spaz's tone this year has been TOTALLY different from the first two with the program. what changed i do not know, but everything from his public expectations ("we want to make the Orange Bowl") to his critiques of players (everything i've read has been positive, in the past it used to be all negative) to the preseason team poster has been a welcome change. and its contagious:

"But right now, I’m just trying to play football and get to the Orange Bowl.” -- Montel Harris in response to whether his goal is to break the ACC rushing mark (he needs 1003 yards).

Also, it seems like since the preseason began, players on offense keep saying how much different things are under Rogers. Thank God! Last year's offense was such a disaster. From the same article:

Harris is excited about new offensive coordinator Kevin Rogers — “He’s opening up the playbook,” the running back said.

can't wait for 9/3!
