Win free tickets for BC hockey game at Fenway

The marketing folks behind the Frozen Fenway event are offering one of the blog's readers a pair of tickets to BC's game Saturday. They recommended some sort of contest, so let's keep it simple. If you are interested in the tickets email me your favorite BC hockey memory. I will post the best responses and pick a winner late Wednesday.

As a reminder, Fenway Park is hosting a number of hockey games for Sun Life Frozen Fenway 2012. The 16-day event began Jan. 1 and will continue through Monday, Jan. 16.

Here is the full remaining schedule:

Wednesday: All private skating

Thursday: NU has their practice from 9-10 am followed by practice for Harvard/Babson and Union/Norwich.

Friday: We have the Norwich/Babson game from 3:30-6 followed by Union/Harvard from 7-9:30

Saturday: Boston Rivalries game. At 4 p.m., the Boston College Eagles will face off against cross-town foe Northeastern Huskies. That game will be preceded by a match-up of long-time high school rivals Boston College High School and Catholic Memorial at 1 p.m.

Sunday: Back-up weather day for Saturday’s game.

I don't remember many details but I will always remember my first hockey game. I didn't have season tickets, but got dragged to a game and somehow ended up in the first row.

I was having a good time until a slapshot hit the netting in front of me and the puck that sits on my desk fell into my hands. Tons of baseball games without a ball landing in my section and at my first hockey game the puck almost literally falls into my lap.

It did two things, made the people in jerseys around my cry that the kid in the superfan shirt got a puck in his first game, and caused me to go buy tickets and my own jersey for the rest of the season.

Nothing will ever beat living through the heartpounding overtime period resulting in the 3-2 victory over North Dakota for the NC on the hometown ice here in Albany in 2001. Total bedlam. A ton of Eagles in the house -- and quite a few disappointed Fighting Sioux.
Jumping around with my 7 month old (now 11 year old)daughter in my arms.

Chills just thinking about it.
Thanks for shaking out of the memory tree.

Go Eagles!
