Campanile working to close recruiting class

A week ago I wrote that losing a Tight End wasn't important, so I can't turn around and say that getting New Jersey Tight End Korab Idrizi on board is going to change the program. But getting him to flip from Rutgers to BC is a great early return by new DB's Coach Anthony Campanile.

If Addazio is going to turn the program around he will need more talent. Regardless of our inroads in other areas, New Jersey will still be a critical territory and that is where Campanile comes in. Ideally he can get the state's top stars to BC, but more realistically he will leverage his knowledge and ties to the area to find the underrated future stars that BC can close. New Rutgers coach Chris Ash doesn't have ties to the state, nor did he hire any local recruiting ace. There could be plenty of potential Rutgers prospects that BC can now shift.

Signing Day is this Wednesday. There are bound to be a few more surprises. Hopefully all of them good for BC. And hopefully Campanile's early success is a sign of bigger things to come.

Speaking of building... does anyone have a clue as to what is realistically on the table with regard to upgrading facilities? I haven't spoken to my friend with inside info in a while, and I'm out of the loop being so far away. I frankly have forgotten what has been discussed, though I hear an occasional reference to a mysterious plan that Bates has yet to release.

Send your comments. Something tells me this group will not be thinking much about sports facilities. Bates should have gotten somebody included.

2* OL Eddy Fish, from Groton MA and Lawrence Academy (coached by former BC player and Coach Zukauskas), de-committed today, going to Illinois instead. so much for the WALL addazio was building.

Fish was a preferred walk-on, so he had no guarantees at BC. He went with the sure thing at Illinois, so it's kinda like Daz left the gate ajar

not a sure thing vs guarantee, its paying vs not paying. its a no brainer. Fish has upside but is a project. If BC lands Elijah Johnson from Dematha in DC they come out ahead

Looks like we came out ahead, then, with Elijah.
