Who has most to gain at the Combine?

The NFL invited four BC seniors to the NFL Combine. Considering our recent drafts and our 3-9 season, that is an impressive number of invites. No surprise, all four (Abdesmad, Daniels, Simmons and Wujciak) are on the defensive side of the ball. All will go through the usual steps and tests, but who has the most to gain from the few days in Indianapolis?

In my opinion is will be Abdesmad. Of the four he had the most checkered injury history. What the NFL doctors and trainers say after inspecting him might be as important as his 40 time. If he can minimize fear about his legs, maybe someone will take a chance. But recent BC guys with injury/recovery issues like Toal and Herzlich never built consensus on their health or recovery. Herzlich beat the odds and built an NFL career. Toal didn't.

If you are going on pure potential, I think Wujciak is the most likely to play consistently at the next level. He's got the required size and strength for his position. Simmons and Daniels are competing with a much deeper field for their respective spots. Regardless of who goes where and who gets drafted, this could be the best BC draft in years. Let's hope all the guys get picked.

If anyone has the most to gain, it has to be Mod.

Chance of acl injury .1
Chance of contracting zika virus .1
Chance of bus accident near stadium .1
Chance of seismic event causing dome implosion .3

Total chance for Mod happiness 60%
Impending "stfu" comment 100%

Why does BC have only 5 academic all-Americans? Because Daz. That's why.

On a less relevant note, while the LB field is deep, I really think Daniels is a stud. I hope he Mamulas the combine.

I also congratulate them for this great job and hope they will carry on jobs like this and i am thankful to writer for sharing us this news with us anyway this is a big success for them of this winter and i think we should say it success of year. Some people said that cold weather is not suitable for work but i suggest them to visit The Cold Weather Effect: Raising Profits When Temperatures Drop service or see this success that they have got.

Yes - 9 degrees here this morning. Took the dog out for his walk and his dump froze before it hit the ground. The marketing effect is that I poured a couple shots of scotch on top of my Corn Chex and went back to bed.

Funny stuff.

Daniels biggest problem is it's a passing league, and he's a run stopper. Sort of the D side of Andre.

CT - LOL.

I think Simmons is the most talented guy on the D. unfortunately for the secondary its all dependent on the 40 time - i'm hoping he runs a fast time. given his production, i feel like if he had a good pro D measurable wise people would take a second look at him and he'd shoot up draft boards into "day 2" (which i think is now rounds 2-3).

I am rooting for Justin. However, he does not appear to be highly rated. Someone will sign him as a free agent and he will get his chance. Mehdi is quite a story. His injury to his leg came from being hit by Nick O'Leary on a blindside helmet to helmet which should have led to manslaughter charges for the Florida State ignoramus. If his leg didn't give way, then he would be dead from traumatic brain injury. There is no problem with his Canadian heart but I hope that they check his head.

On a related topic , I believe that these 4 guys represent "SIZE" that will not be present in next year's line up on defense. Wujciak at 6;3" - 300 lbs. Abdesmad 6'7" 295 lbs. Daniels , who at linebacker was well over 250 lbs. and was a great complement to the D-Line . And Justin Simmons played big in the back field at 6'3" maybe 210lbs.It is also worth mentioning the loss of fill ins like Evan Kelly (6'1" @285lbs) and the recent transfer of Malachi Moore (6'7" @285lbs.). We may have some quality coming back like Gutapfel @ 6'3" - 280 lbs, but the size after that" TAILS Off " and the defensive ends may be decent (Zach Allen , Landry etc), but the size in the middle will be a major weakness (IMHO) . Then , of course we have a new Defensive Co-ordinator who will maybe totally change schemes and what impact will that factor play in the maintenance of the great DEFENSIVE strength of last year ???? The "O" may be better with Hilliman back ?? and the alleged quality transfer at QB , but who knows ??? It will be a watershed year to say the least !!!

I'm concerned w/ the tackle position. I feel we have experience at the others. You didn't mention Kavelec.

Guido said...

Hoib - Kavelec is a good ballplayer(DEF.END), but at 6'2" and about 250lbs. , he does not fill the need that I am highlighting - you must have a few big men Tackles/Nose Tackles) to block up the middle. At the current time , we do not have players (PLURAL) that fit the bill. All good teams have "Beef" in the middle. Very good linebackers (and we have a few) are not going to make up for that deficit - just my opinion !!!!

Guys..do your homework. Current frosh DT Ray Smith is currently weighing in at 295 (6'2) and he's still in his freshman year. He didn't get much experience this past year but as far as beef goes you're gonna have plenty..once he gets some playing time you're gonna see a good one..

Calfrog208 - You do not have to be a wise-ass !!! He entered BC at 260 and was listed in the program as 6'1" 264lbs. It is good news that his frame has allowed the addition of over 30 lbs. since school started. And by the way , I do follow BC very closely ( 2 season tickets for a # of years) and try to keep up with current developments. Enough of your "Attitude". Do you have any other information on the program and positive developments ?????? Guys , for the most part ,use this forum for friendly banter. I did not like your ARROGANT COMMENT " Do your homework" !!!!! Should I be calling Addazio or the strength coach to ask questions. My simple comment was that without some beef in the middle , BC might have a few problems. Did you have a tough week at work ?????? If you have reliable input , just share it without any arrogant B/S !!!! When people share info , it is much appreciated, but not in your immature style !!!!You need to grow up !!!!!!!

Geez Guido my apologies..by no means did I mean to be a wise-ass whatsoever..I was just reading a lot of posts about a lack of any size in the middle and I thought I would throw out a name just to show the cupboard is not totally bare. There are others as well..bottom line is I think there is talent on this team and its not all doom and gloom. Again, sorry it came across the wrong way by no means was I looking to start a fight. I actually had a great week though to answer your question! Cheers!!

calfrog208- Your apology is accepted and it could be that I overreacted !!! It has been a tough year watching a group of young men giving a great effort every week and having little to show for it .I am hoping that next year these young men will have something to show for their fine efforts. BC is represented well in so many positive ways - WIN OR LOSE !!!!!! Go Eagles in 2016 !!! Have a good week-end calfrog208 .

I hear you Guido..things will get better! Stay positive and keep the faith as hard as it is at times!! Go Eagles and you have a great weekend as well!

Thanks for the info. Any word on the OL guys? Listrom in particular? Has he been developing along the lines of Smith? I guess I'd rather have u do my homework for my, haha.

Calfrog208 said...

Hey Hoib, I have not heard anything specific to Lindstrom. The reviews on signing day seemed to be pretty negative but I thought they went after OL hard and got some solid, big boys! Personally, i'm encouraged, what did you think?

Hoib said...

Cal

I'm one of the few here who think last year was an aberration. Just the perfect storm of bad luck. I think we get things back moving in the right direction this year. I hope the new kicker will be able to do the job. If we are to succeed it will be all about the Oline. If they get things done the rest will all flow from there, hence my inquiry about Linstrom. Thanks for asking.

Hey Guido, you came across like a total douche in your post to Calfrog. Just sayin'.

There was no malice in his post, and more intel than in your rambling whine.

Guido said...

BCballer - I already said that I overreacted - I am far from being perfect. I believe ( and hope ) that Cal frog understands my sincere apology. What can I say - maybe you have never overreacted to another individual's comments in your life. And I must say that your comment lacks a little class - JUST SAYIN'

Calfrog208 said...

It's all good guys, we are all on the same team! It was a tough year, most of all we just need to say positive and keep supporting the boys! I agree Hoib, if the O line can perform the success will follow! Like the schedule or not next year it should equal more wins and happier fans! They will do it!
