What I like about the split squad and not just first team vs second team or offense vs defense, is that we get a sense of depth and systems. The sly thing about split squad is that it also keeps Wade and Towles happy and engaged. Neither will be declared the "starter" of the first team. I also like the idea of both guys getting thrown in with random teammates. We need next year's QB to be a gamer who can adapt to any situation.
Regardless of how these tweaks to the game translate to the field, I am glad we get to see the new offense, new QBs and new defense.

At UCLA, Kareem Abdul Jabbar "grew two inches" on the day he graduated. He had always been listed at 6 ft 11. The problem with the quarterback situation is one of height. Towles is 6 ft 5 and Wade is 6 ft. Towles could really move the ball at Kentucky, He also throws from the right and Wade from the left. Actually, this reformed offense demands height. Strangely, the parallel to Notre Dame is a bit disconcerting. Malik Zaire is 6 ft and left handed. Kizer is 6 ft 4.5 and right handed. Elijah Robinson had been switched from quarterback and is 6 ft 2 as was Chase Rettig. Actually, size does matter. Unless Wade is still growing and sleeps on a medieval rack, then unfortunately he needs to be explained the facts of life.
Why don't they have the game Monday? Could get some walkins. Doug Flutie was maybe 5 10 by far our greatest QB.
I went to school with Emily and she's not kidding about those camping events. Miss these time indeed.
Lindstrom is at 290+
