BC took an early lead and kept it close into the 5th, but once the 'Canes got into our Bullpen, it was effectively over. BC added a few runs late, but never really threatened. The final score was Miami 12, BC 7.
Justin Dunn pitched well in the loss. He struck out plenty of Miami's players and kept walks down. However, when they did hit him, they hit him hard. Miami is a talented team that is playing well at the right moment.
BC must win Game 2 of the series Saturday at noon to stay alive.

First and third with one out and Dunn tried to overpower the hitter. Ka boom. He tried it again and ka boom. The score went from 1-3 to 6-3 in a magical moment. When Dunn pitches for the Mets and he will, he will learn quickly that major league caliber hitters can all hit the fast ball. He needs to develop some other pitches.
I didn't mind him challenging the hitter with his FB, he just can't leave it out over the plate like that. Dunn looked excellent hitting his spots on the corners--especially early. The huge K zone favored us for the first 6 innings...then it stifled a few of our hitters in the late innings--forced them to take a defensive approach with 2 strikes--cost us a couple of good ABs.
Jeysus, that Miami team can hit. The Dunn/ Collins matchup was fun to watch. Collins' dong might not have landed yet.
Our vey with this Zach Collins
Dunn didn't pitch well at all. He relied way too much on his off speed pitches and didn't have great control which resulted in a ton of pitches and deep counts. Those homers also resulted from bad location too.
I disagree. I thought he pitched well. We had a close game when we pulled him. We couldn't leave him out there, but it would've been great to squeeze another inning out of him. He left 2 pitches out over the plate. Remove those two mistakes, and he goes 7+ with the lead. I'm curious to know if he's avail for an inning or two today or tomorrow. That Zach Collins is sensational. If 1b is open, I vote we just walk him every time he comes up
Man it would be awesome to pull this one out today. What a fun couple of weeks! I'm fully on board with Birdball!!!!!!
The red headed stepchildren, literally and figuratively, of BCAA, they being of tailgating parking outfield and parking deck for preferred first base side seating, are still alive! Winner tomorrow goes to Omaha!

One to one and tomorrow it's Dunn. Hooray for the good guys. On the morrow, bring all of your marbles.
I would give credit to Miami's lineup that first game. They worked some deep counts. Great second game performance. BC capitalized on Miami's mistakes and had some timely hitting and pitching. Stevens is up in the rubber match.
