Who benefits from the short week?

Addazio held his usual press conference Monday and was asked about the short week. His response:
"I think being home helps you, yeah. But, no, I mean, it's hard. We practice in the mornings. So it's compounded. We couldn't come in today and use the bulk of the day today continue game planning. We had to get it all done yesterday and last night. At least all done relative to having a good day today, which we did have a good day today. I thought the coaches did a great job. I thought we had a great practice and got some real great things accomplished. In fact, I'm looking forward to going back and watching the practice tape with the coaches and going through it right now. I felt a lot of good stuff happened. We had a hell of a day, but it was a grind. It was absolutely a flat grind. And it's different for the players. Traditionally this is the player's day off for us in our program. So we come in, we watch tape on Sunday. We go on the field. We work on fundamentals. Monday is the day off. And then Tuesday is the day we have -- this all got bounced up. But, I mean, it's the same thing for Clemson. It's no different, they've got the same issues. They played late at night."

Ultimately, I think Clemson is the better team, but I feel we still have the advantage on a couple of fronts. The short week favors us. We played a day game Saturday and do not travel. Their game didn't end until midnight and they have to travel. Even with the disruption, we had more preparation time than the Tigers.

I think facing them coming off of a huge Louisville game is also an advantage. These are still young emotional players. It will be natural for Clemson to overlook us. Conversely, BC hasn't played real competition in three weeks. I think our players should be pumped up and have something to prove.

I also think we have a home field advantage. Don't get me wrong, there will be plenty of Clemson fans there. And Alumni was a morgue last week. But BC fans will show up this week. And if BC shows any sign of life, the crowd will be into it.

I hate how our schedule plays out, but this Friday night will work for BC.

Well, besides being awesome and bring fun back to BC football, which it has lacked for 4 or the last 6 seasons, a win against Clemson would pull me back to Adazzio's side again. at least for a few weeks.

You " think Clemson is the better team". Really!

I am not so optimistic that the BC fanbase will be turning out for this game. The student section last week was as empty as I've ever seen it. It's a holiday weekend, the first of the school year, and a good portion of the student body will be going home. (In years past they might stay for this big time, primetime Friday night game then go home for the weekend. Not anymore.) The Red Sox have a playoff game. The tailgating scene has continued to wither to the point of not being worth the effort (or $). And there is virtually no chance of winning.

Sadly, I fear this is going to be an embarrassment on national TV not just in terms of the product on the field, but also in being outnumbered by fans of the visiting team in our half-empty stadium.

Henry: "He thinks who he is"

Capisce?

He is not a bright or thoughtful man.

I luv some of his pat phrases like "and that happened".

And the constant way he distracts himself from finishing a complete thought.

Albany - if your prediction proves accurate re another half empty stadium - do you believe anyone at BC from Leahy to the AD to the Executive Committee of the BOT will even notice or care? They'll all be slapping high fives about the great PR shots of the new Sam Adams and Paul Revere puppets.

We are going to get crushed in a stadium half orange ... and that is not an exaggeration. Normally I would never miss this type of game. This year, I will not be going nor taking my family with me who is here visiting from out of town.

I have never seen the BC fans base and this blog so demoralized, myself included. Worse, there doesn't appear to be any light at the end of the tunnel.

Quick question. I'm flying up from Atlanta and will be staying in Hingham for the weekend. I purchased two tickets for the game and talked my cousin (a casual) into going with me. This will be my second BC game at Alumni; I attended the FSU game last year. Is taking the T to the game feasible? We're planning on taking an Uber back, but would like to save a bit of cash on the way in.

Additionally, any ideas on where to go before the game? I'm assuming that tailgating will not be an option, but would like to pop into a few bars. Last year, I stopped by Mariannes and had a good time. Thanks for the feedback!

This game has all of the pregame feel of the Marines on Corregidor before the Japanese invasion. The second in command was stapled to a tree with bayonets and the prisoners forced to walk past the body. Clemson will come close to duplicating this historical event.

eagleesquire, when i go, I bring a bag of quarters and park on beacon - usually about 5 blocks from MAs (going toward Boston). Put in a enough quarts for 5 hours and you are good. You have about a 25 minute walk to campus ... and a few bars along the way. (not sure though if the meters are now accepting credit cards...in which case no quarters needed!)

Also, in past the day before the game I called BC and paid $40 to park on Brighton campus..... you can sneak a tail gate in too....

but if you want to ditch the car, sure just take the T -- B, C, or D greenline -- all get you there.

Hello Eagle Esquire:

Mod34b provided some good advice. I haven't lived in Boston for 15 years, but visit regularly, and I'm a Boston native. I can't believe I'm missing this game, but I took a stand against Bates for scheduling Wagner.

I like Mod's T advice more than the Beacon Street parking for you coming from Hingham (I don't know how well you know your way around Boston WRT to traffic congestion).

Traffic from Hingham to BC on Friday afternoon and evening can be a nightmare - in fact count on it. 93 North might not be too bad - until you get to the Braintree split to either 95/128 beltway to Newton or continue on 93 to Boston and out to BC - usually a total disaster. If you know how to cut through Dorchester, Roxbury, Jamaica Plain into Brookline and on to Newton and BC - God Bless you. Perhaps there are other ways as well - like through the Blue Hills - Hyde Park and Mattapan, etc.

My advice is drive to the T station in Braintree or Quincy Center. Take the Red Line to the new Government Center and switch to the Green Line. Personally, I like the D line to Chestnut Hill the best (less stops and the walk to the stadium is not bad) you can also get off at Reservoir for a side trip to Mary Anne's; the C Line to Cleveland Circle - also for MA's or my least favorite - the B line straight to BC, but with many stops from Kenmore square through BU and up Commonwealth to the BC campus and stadium.

I don't know how much time you have, but if you go early, you could jump off in Kenmore Square and walk towards Fenway Park. I'm sure some of those bars will be rocking waiting for/watching the Red Sox-Indians playoff game in Cleveland, OH at 4:30pm. It's easy to get back on the Green line from there.

Have a great time. Go BC - hit em again, hit em again, harder, harder. Hit em again, hit em again, harder, harder!! :-)

Oh and one other thing - where will you have Uber pick you up? I guess you should have a plan for that.

I'm sure the B Line will be filled with orange-clad Clemson Fans. They really travel well and are generally great fans.

But it can be disheartening to be totally outnumbered by our opponent's fans on the local train.

Talk about an idiotic claim that TOB didn't develop Wilson. Wilson first year at NC st. he threw for 2000 yards. His second he threw for three thousand yards, His third he threw for 3500 yards. When he got to Wisconsin his fourth year he threw for 3200. Where was he developed? In the three years at NC St. under TOB where he threw for 8500 yards or the one year at Wisconsin? TOB developed three NFL pro bowlers ( Hasselbeck, Ryan and Wilson). Has any Wisconsin coach in their history ever recruited and developed one? Bielema never did. So much for the clueless types 2. This is the tenth anniversary of BC being on an ESPN weeknight national telecast. A decade ago Fowler and Herstreigt were telling the country that it was a down year for QBs in the ACC. There were no standout QBs in the ACC. Matt Ryan was BC's QB that night and beat VT. Guillible and naive types may have fallen for the negative spin but the NFL scouts weren't. Were those two creeps trying to fool the clueless? Did they really believe that or were they just reading the script some nerd from UConn wrote? ESPN was promoting Tebow and Troy Smith as the top QBs neither of whom could play. Never fall for media hype.

Someone said this a few days ago. Please stop with the TOB developed Russell Wilson. Wilson developed himself. TOB did nothing foer him.

For the locker room bulletin board:

‘‘My mind is on the national championship,’’ Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson said.

Chw on that one quietly, BC - and rock their world.

The last time that I heard from BJK, he was advocating "doing whatever is necessary". Is he the only one with any backbone on the entire campus? The status quo is unacceptable. "For Boston" sounds like a funeral dirge. BC was founded by the Irish who are nothing more than the working class. Tom Coughlin can get down and dirty. BJK can get down and dirty. Is there anybody else or is everyone lined up behind Bates and Addazio waiting to cash their paychecks? Father Leahy needs to be held accountable as does Chair John Fish of the Board of Directors. Suffolk Construction is one of the top 200 businesses in the entire United States. Someone can't come in and create order out of chaos? TC could do it in about a week. Once Clemson embarrasses BC and then on 11.11 the Seminoles do it again, there had better be some action. It is time to light the torches.
