More bowl previews

More and more bowl previews are coming out (here and here)  and even though Maryland is favored, there are some who like BC's chances. I am still unsure, but Maryland's flaws give me hope. Below is another clip previewing the game.

I was listening to Fox Sport radio, Clay Travis show and he interviewed Matt Rhule - impressive guy.

HEY DAZ IT IS NOT JUST BLOGGERS TAKING SHOTS AT YOU.

Rhule took a nice dump on Daz. In substance, he said "When I joined Temple they did not have a great year before I got there" and things had to be fixed. "I am a guy that likes to fix things"

So Daz destroyed Temple in 2 years, but it took him to season 3 to put BC at the bottom - of course, right after he got an extension from hapless Brad.

why again did BC hire a coach coming off a 4 win season, as Miz asks?

Geezer eagle said...

Maybe no successful coaches from winning programs wanted the job? Otherwise, dazoshit's hire defies logic.

I didn't even realize that Jon Hilliman’s 463 rushing yards led the team. Let that sink in. 463 yards in 12 games. 463 yards led the team. If that's not the epitome of BC's offensive futility, I don't know what is.

GE - Rhule was asked why he chose Baylor when he apparently had many options.

He said that he knew the Baylor AD (used to be Houston AD and in same league as Temple). he really liked the AD, and the AD really sold him on the job.

Compare Brad Bates... fizzle......

To Bravesbill's comment about Hilliman - I do not believe that he was given enough time to recover from his injury. He is just not the same back, slow getting to the hole etc etc. However , Addazio keeps using him. The young man that should have been given a real chance to prove himself is Richard Wilson , who at 5'10" and 225lbs might be the real deal. He is powerful and quick, but Addazio is so stubborn that he will continue to use Hilliman. For a XMAS present, I am hoping that someone will finally get the answer to who participated in handing an extension to Coach Addazio. Was it Bates going to Father Leahy asking for more $$$ or to a Board Committee or whatever - it is killing me !!!!!!!

Guido, I'm not blaming Hilliman at all. I'm just astounded by the fact that BC's leading rusher had only 463 yards...in 12 games.

Our voices aren't heard! Despicable! Deplorable!

Bravesbill - I knew that you were not blaming Hilliman at all for his limited production. I never interpreted your comment as critical - just factual !!!! That statistic , however, may support my theory that he has never fully recovered from his injury - could also mean that his carries on 1st down into the middle are well anticipated by opposing "D's" -etc. I truly believe that bloggers on this site are never "tearing down" the athlete's accomplishments , but rather trying to emphasize the poor coaching and lack of creative game plans.

BB and G, if you look at CFB stats, you see that despite the modest change in record from 2015 to 2016, the team is just as bad on offense as last year's debacle - just a tiny bit little luckier and with an easier schedule (e.g., buffalo instead of ND).

here are ACC in-conference stats (filtering out Buffalo and other non-ACC chumps)

Total Offense
2015 229 yard per game - 14th in ACC
2016 236 yards per game - 14th in ACC

Passing offense
2015 107 yards per game - 14th in ACC
2016 109 yards per game - 14th in ACC

Rushing offense
2015 123 yards per game - 12th in ACC
2016 126 yards per game - 12th in ACC

Lefty Loeffler really blossomed this year under Daz.... NOT ... just hysterical....

EL MIZ said...

ATL should set an auto post to pop up every Friday for the FRIDAY RANT - Daz is still the coach. Bates is still the AD.

Bravesbill said...

As Guido said, the 463 yards does emphasize the poor coaching and lack of creative game plans. It also shows that Daz and his merry band of idiots can't analyze talent, can't develop talent, and can't play the correct guys.

Back to the BC - Miami game with the Hail Mary pass we had that running total in one game. The Cotton Bowl had 300 yards in a game. BC Clemson game in 83 had 300 in second half.
I only mention as:
1) BC was fun to watch
2) BC had great coaches (ing)
Everything BC has not currently

Jack Bicknell was not a great coach. Attrition led to Flutie being allowed to play. Bicknell saw quickly what Flutie was and let him "go." In todays game of douche/psychotic headcoaching micro-management I guess some people would call that great coaching but he couldn't coach what Flutie brought to the field. The rest of Bicknells time was average.

Tom Coughlin was a great coach. Looking back TOB was very good.

All the other BC coaches have been average at best, while they were at BC.

mod34b said...

Flutie had talent and that's why he got on the field as a frosh - not attrition... dumb...

he replaced the woeful John Loughrey.. who was the incumbent starter who averaged about 40% completions... and two other guys that never got on the field.

Flutie also was part of a very talented team o/s of the other QBs.... I think Coach Jack had something to do with that...

do you know who Flutie's QB coach was?: TC...

I guess Jack was kinda smart after all...

Read it all. 4th string to starter. That is fucking attrition. You don't know shit.

JBQ said...

463 divided by 12 equals 38.5.

Max said...

JBQ - are you saying he will hit 501.5 with bowl game?

Pathetic for D1.

I blame the coaching staff and admin and BC leadership for current woes.

TGS said...

Score another for Mod over KHead.
This is starting to get one sided.

Bravesbill said...

Score another pathetic loss for the basketball team. Lost to freaking Hartford.

BC fan since the 1960s said...

Hartford was 2-9 coming into this game. Look at there scores. They lost to some bad teams. Rock bottom doesn't do this loss justice. Also I have been around a long time. I loved the Flutie years in the early 1989s. The person who said Flutie got on the field due to attrition was right. There were injuries to the QBs ahead of him and Bicknell decided to give him a shot. When he did he immediately saw what he had and stayed with him and that was to Bicknell's credit. Do you know why Flutie wore 22 a strange number for a QB? It was because he was higher in the depth chart as a safety than a QB. The whole Flutie thing was a once in a generation phenomenon. Those were the days my friend.

mod34b said...

Knuckle - great article thanks

but it proves my points and not yours

also shows what a perfect coach jack was for his prodigy

"''I wouldn't want to coach caution into a person like that,'' says Bicknell, a former B.C. offensive-backfield coach who took over the top job in 1981 after five years as head coach for the University of Maine. ''I tell Doug, 'Go out and have fun.' If you get an instinctive athlete, you've got to let him be instinctive. His instinct will usually be good.''

ps. cursing is not helping you

Knucklehead said...

You are a bitch.

Knucklehead said...

. . . You can quote me on that

Max said...

Knucklehead?
A name or a lifestyle for you? Given your incredible intelligence and football acumen my bet would be lifestyle. You are like every other talking head who never played the game; irrelevant. You and Daz would enjoy Christmas together.

Knucklehead said...

Mad max, Daddy didn't return your call today? Hope that you enjoy Christmas alone.

mod34b said...

knucklehead is obviously a literal name. like knuckles themselves, his knucklehead brain is very uneven, some days knuckle is nice, even interesting. other days not so much, particularly when he is dumb wrong and instead of admitting it, sputters a blue streak.

Knucklehead said...

I spoke to you about this before, reading comprehension.

Read what I wrote from beginning to the end. Think for a minute instead of researching shit. It is obvious that you cannot think for yourself and have zero nuance of thought. Life must be difficult for you with a black or white type of thought process.

Knucklehead said...

TGS,
Keeping score instead of playing is all I need to know about you. Didn't I eviscerate you last week. What are you doing chirping here still?

mod34b said...

Knuckle. The bad boy. Hysterical
