Another ACC Champ

North Carolina just won the National Championship. We now play in the conference that is home to the football and basketball champions. It might seem like BC will never be in position to win either championship, but being in the ACC is a huge benefit as we try to take the programs to the next level. If you are ever going to win anything big, it will be through recruiting and developing those players under intense competition. By playing champions annually, BC has a direct barometer of where they are with regards to the best teams in the country. Right now we are not doing enough. But by coming up short, the pressure increases. Hence the change in AD. And there will be more changes if Addazio and Christian do not start competing.

Getting crushed by the eventual champions can be deflating. Some long for the good ol' days or think that if we were in a mid-major conference, we could be more successful. I don't agree. As frustrating as this can be, I want to be associated with the best. I want to know how far we have to go. When we do turn things around, it will make things all that much more satisfying.

"...we try to take the programs to the next level..."

Unfortunately, I fear that Fr. Leahy and the Board have no interest in doing such. If they did, a new AD would be in place already and Bates moved to some transitional title role, and JC and SA would be long gone. Particularly the former is an absolute laughing stock.

TIME TO LIVE UP TO "EVER TO EXCEL" THEY (SPAZDAZIO AND JC MUST GO)

TIME FOR JARED, DANYA , HOWARD , MALCOM .

TIME TO REACH THE HEIGHTS "FOR BOSTON"

TIME FOR CHET GLADCHUK TO CLEAN UP THE MESS OF DIFLOPPO AND THE BATES MOTEL.

TIME FOR A BC FOOTBALLER>

TIME TO MAKE THE ECHOES RING AGAIN

If you watched the second half of the championship game, you will know "that the fix was in". The NCAA is more worried about bathrooms in North Carolina than academic integrity at the university. The "paper classes" that Mary Willingham, the whistle blower, exposed were going on for 20 years. The investigation started in 2010 and there is still no sanction in sight. North Carolina should be on probation instead of participating in a championship game. Gonzaga is one of 28 Jesuit Colleges and Universities. If you think that Mark Emmert worries about BC, I think that the Brooklyn Bridge is still for sale. As for the "Bates Motel", that appears to be an apropos description with the "murder in the shower" going on in the Athletic Department.

More credibility for the ACC.
In light of your posts re; BC Athletic Director I suggest a good read if you haven't already. John U Bacon's
Endzone:Michigan Football. Bacon goes through the history of Michigan football, with a focus on the positives as well as negatives of Michigan's Athletic Directors over the years with much of it covering Dave Brandon's missteps in bringing a corporate culture to athletics with damaging results. Interesting side note, prior to Brandon being hired Brad Bates was one of the three finalists.
Btw I'm no longer at Don Bosco since the travesty with Greg Toal. I'm now at St Joe's Regional in Montvale with Augie Hoffman former BC O-lineman. Watch for St Joe's to become the premier program in North Jersey.

BC of course lost to Clemson in football and UNC in hoops.

UNC was kinda close - 90-82. And came after getting mauled by UVA on the prior Wednesday.

After the UNC "close" loss, Jim Christian aptly summed up BC hoops under his tenure.

"I was so disappointed on Wednesday night, because that's not who we are," BC coach Jim Christian said. "To me, this is who we are."

get it? Losing is ok if you tried. and to JC, losing is ok for BC. "To me, this is who we are." and therein lies part of the problem

BC was blown out by Clemosn 56-10. Steve liked out first half effort (losing 21-3) but had other concerns at the end.

"I thought we did a lot better things today in this game. Like I said, you would walk away from that first half and say that these were two teams competing like hell against each other when that was going on, and we didn't hold back.

At the very end of the game, obviously I wanted to get the guys out of the game for the very reasons I said. The game was out of reach, and the last thing I wanted to do now is have more injuries"

why play football if you guys might get hurt. Raise the white flag and wait for a weaker opponent.

OMG you can't make up these loser world quotes

On a different note - in case you missed it - story on Jamie Silva one of the best DB's to ever play at BC. He has a lot on his plate with four kids to feed - http://bcheights.com/2017/03/30/jamie-silva-renaissance-man-boston-college-football/

And here's a compelling analysis from someone who should be contacted immediately for a donation to the Flynn Fund: http://bcheights.com/2017/04/02/maroon-gold-money/

From blauds.

Made up? Real?

"According to sources familiar with the process, the list of candidates includes VCU’s Ed McLaughlin, who is also a Boston College graduate, Villanova’s Mark Jackson, Army’s Boo Corrigan, who was a finalist five years ago before BC hired Brad Bates from Miami of Ohio and one candidate who may be outside the college administrative loop."

Boo Nah. Boo in fact
Jackson no go. Why BC? He's got a better job
McL is the homer and Jesuit choice

Probably made up and real. These are names that were bantered about well before Parker came on board. Hopefully Parker is developing some other interesting candidates that will justify their being retained.
