Ohio State football series pushed back again

For the second time, BC's future football series with Ohio State is getting rescheduled. The games are now scheduled to take place in 2026 and 2027. I wouldn't count on either game ever happening.

What makes this unique for BC and Ohio State is that Martin Jarmond is technically in charge of scheduling at Ohio State, and starting in June will be in charge of BC's schedule. Neither BC or Ohio State attributed any quotes to Jarmond nor did the school reference his ties to both schools. There is not quote from Addazio or Bates either.

The reality is that as much as Jarmond is "in charge of" scheduling, he is really just doing what Urban Meyer wants. By pushing the series back, it makes it that much more likely this game won't happen. It also increases the odds that Meyer won't have to face his friend Addazio. Based on coaching trends, it is unlikely that both will still be in their respective jobs. Plus Addazio will be 66 at kickoff.

I don't know if Addazio wants this game either. His recent schedule moves have been against lower-tier Power 5 teams. He is looking for very winnable games. It is likely that even in 2026, BC would be an underdog to the Buckeyes.

I am disappointed. I would like to see more opponents like Ohio State, not fewer. The landscape in college sports keeps changing, so I have no idea what 2026 will bring. TV deals and more conference shakeups, not to mention a potential rights fees bubble, could mean that teams play more conference games or it could mean ESPN has even more say over non-conference games. Now that BC has a opening, I hope Jarmond uses it to find a great replacement for Ohio State. As I have said and written many times, it is worth the risk for BC.

By 2026, BC's "coaching trend" should be in year 15 of the rebuild. Hopefully the boys can overcome the disadvantage of seemingly perpetual youth and play FSU to within 30. And our new transgendered AD at that time can throw Jarmond a bone at OSU and agree to an away-away series to be played on a Thursday afternoon on OSU's practice field and streamed live on a website yet to be invented since ESPN will no longer exist. Giddy with excitement already.

Maybe each team could send their 3 best offensive, defensive and special team players to face off against the same from Ohio State in a West Side Story fight. Winner take all. Maybe a neutral spot someplace in Pennsylvania; on the turnpike; during a holiday weekend traffic pattern.

This article makes it sound like there is a possibility that Daz will still be here in 2023 and 2024. Maybe Meyer knows something and he didn't want to be playing an FCS team.

ATL, I can not believe you still project dazoshit to be our future coach. Once in for all, stop carrying this clown's water.

If our plan is to be a middling 6-6 team every year on the backs of an out-of-conference schedule featuring such highlights as UConn, Rutgers, or Purdue, we should drop major conference football. I'm not at all kidding. Don't do this halfway. Either schedule like a real school and spend money on our program like a real school, or drop the charade entirely. Judging by the drastically shrunk season ticket base, the charade isn't working anyway.

To all those who say BC baseball will never be able to compete: UConn's conference is not the ACC but I don't doubt they would be competitive in ACC

Current football will be flag football in 2026.

Ever since 2014 when Ohio State announced they were playing a home and home with Notre Dame this game has been in the works to be moved again. 2024 would have given OSU 12 P5 games. Texas is the other non-conference game so obviously BC was odd man out. BC announced Missouri series for 2024 and 2026 so it was obvious this game was in the works of being moved. It will be played in '26 and '27 with now the Rutgers series most likely to be moved. $300,000 buyout if either OSU or BC cancels the series altogether.

I'll be way too old to care.

CT with line of the year:

"Our transgendered AD at that time can throw Jarmond a bone".

This story is yet more proof ATL is losing it. This PC country will outlaw tackle football by 2026.

I agree with "TGS" that "CT" made the comment of the year. Francis is in Egypt and since there are 28 Jesuit Colleges and Universities, look for major changes at all of them. I could realistically see BC dropping football. If you peep through the key hole of the red head's office, you will see him on his knees facing Mecca with his ear to the ground.

I'm with Dixie Eagle. If they can't turn this program around within 3-4 years, who cares.

JBQ. Go jump in a highway. Please. Just get it over with.

I say pull the troos from South Korea and then turn North Korea into a parking lot for China and Japan.

2017 and the world is still one f'd up place. But hey we have LGBTXYZ laws and concessions. Hell Kaitlyn ( my name is Bruce and yes I am so screwed up in the head I cut off my own unit) Jenner will be prez when BC football turns around

Through all the posts it is not an unreal possibility that BC drops football - and all sports. Do not want to offend anyone these days. As the new AD said; family is first.
