Addazio lands a key New Jersey prospect

While the 2018 Class has some quality recruits, no one has an offer sheet like New Jersey DB Evan Stewart. He committed to Addazio and BC Sunday. Stewart is currently 6-1 so he could grow into a LB role or maybe even some sort of hybrid.

The recruiting services only list Stewart as a three star, but he has more than a dozen Power 5 officers. Clearly those evaluators are seeing something in him.

Big credit on this one goes to assistant Anthony Campanile. He is really turning New Jersey recruiting around and making BC a presence in the Garden State once again.

ATL keeps painting a rosy recruiting picture. Virtually this entire forum is disqusted with Daz and JC and demanding their termination - except the host himself.

I think the host keeps it positive to enhance his access to sources. I also think our host does not like controversy. But it is his blog. It works. So it is what is. At least he is consistent

The BCi blog was ruined when the former host there absurdly argued every point and then banned many who did not agree with him. Which is why the average BCI reader is a lapdog

So. ATL does a nice job. Not really an opinion guy. More of a "facts through happy glasses"

I remember when a 3* recruit was the norm for the class. Now a powerhouse.

Atl. does a great job whether one agrees with his perspective or not. The 2017 edition of the football team will depend on whether Daz can develop an o-line and a QB.He hasn't shown much ability in those area. The D should be good.Only three plus months to kickoff.

@Matthew Soldano, @NEDofSavinHill: With Flo of Progressive Insurance: pretty good, pretty good. "Mod" and "Georgia" are carrying the freight. Haven't heard from BJK in quite awhile. He was going to "storm the castle" and then his line went dead. Uh-Oh.

Mod - the link you posted only has 4 players from NJ listed in it, and of those 4, 3 have scholarship offers from BC.

sort of odd that any good news (IE kid with good offers from powerhouse NJ school commits, growing trend of a recent hire [Campanile] paying dividends and being an actual good hire) is greeted with doubt, needling, and skepticism. why follow the team if all it does is cause such consternation?

this is good news. hooray.

Mod - disliking Daz and being excited about new kids coming in or an assistant doing a good job are separate things.

also, interesting article given the discussion above:

When BJK posts from his phone, it shows up as "John". That is me - John is BJK.

I have been too lazy to change it - sorry. Will do so, but I'll have to go though the process of changing my password, I suppose. ☺️

Also, when posting by phone, comments are brief. I still have very strong feelings and hope that someday BC will turn this around.

For crying out loud, my daughter is celebrating her 25th reunion this June at the Heights.

MOD - ATL posted a piece about how BC closed a kid with a dozen legit offers from a powerhouse HS in NJ, and remarked that BC asst Campanile has been doing well.

you replied with typical snark, saying BC is in fact not doing well in NJ, and to support this posted a link which you imply lists the best NJ players and conclude that "none on the list are interested in BC"

i pointed out that of the 4 NJ guys in your own link, 3 have BC offers, and celebrating the commitment of a kid who looks a lot like a young version of recent NFL draft pick Matt Milano. the NJ.com article i posted is also an interesting assessment of BC in NJ - worth reading.

i do think it is possible to be both critical of Daz (which I have been, as you astutely pointed out) and celebratory of good things that happen to BC (which i also try to be when there are scant bits of good news to celebrate).

BJK - welcome back

knucklehead - some newfound restraint - 3 posts today and no curses! well done, sir.

Historically, Rutgers ( The University of NJ) has had as much difficulty recruiting in Jersey as BC does. Penn State and ND have traditionally been the big poachers.
What dismays me is Daz's inability to land home grown three-star New England talent.

EL MIZ said...

GE - agreed 100%. when Daz started he was all about "the Wall." now, we don't hear that at all.

i still bemoan our not closing on Christian Wilkins. not only would it have made Clemson that much worse, but Wilkins and Landry on the same DL would have been a lot of fun.

Eagleytics said...

Dang, I never even considered Wilkins and Landry playing together. Man that could have been something special.

The new QB and LB/S seem like they have potential to make a big impact.

The offensive line is still the main problem. There are as many QB's on the roster now with the new recruits as there are o-lineman.

Does Dazzler think that the line is better or is he confusing QBs with o-lineman?

The rant doesn't change the fact you said nobody on the list is interested. That is fake. Plenty of them are interested according to your article.

Atl runs a very good blog, with regular updates that creates a forum for all of us. That gives him some slack, even when he engages in "magical thinking" about the state of the BC football program and the quality of recruits. This wishful thinking ignores the real problem, which is that the ACC has become a top football conference...BC has almost no chance of winning more than 7 games in a year for the foreseeable future.

You have no point. Just negativity.
