It is a slow BC news day, so I thought I would look back at an old game. This one was sort of painful...
After upsetting No. 1 Notre Dame in 1993, BC came home to face No. 5 West Virginia. Win the game and BC heads to a major bowl. We know how it ended. All these years later this game is frustrating because BC had its chances, but some turnovers and mistakes proved costly. You can watch it all below.
Also of note, this was the last game before Alumni's renovation.

Why? David Green?
Two minutes away. Just don't fumble.
What a waste of BC's greatest win.
Good old BC. Always the bride's maids, never the bride. Been a fan for forty-seven years. In that time, no Big East titles, no ACC titles, and no major (except Flutie Cotton Bowl) bowls. And they wonder why I'm losing my hair.
I was at that game, what a letdown after the huge ND win.
The Defense still could have preserved the win, even after the fumble.
I was there as well, thinking about us going to the Fiesta Bowl. What a "wicked bummer".
I was so disappointed in the loss that I had somehow forgotten that WVU was undefeated and ranked #3 in the nation while we were #11.
Gene Defildicko and Brad Bates took care of those days.
Will we ever again have a huge game on Thanksgiving weekend?
At least we don't have Wagner this year.
PART OF 25 YEARS OF GREATNESS BEFORE THE DISGRACE OF DE FLOPPO AND
THAT LOUSY COACHING COMBO OF SPAZDAZIO.
DEFLOPPO ALSO FIRED ANOTHER OF CHET GLADCHUK'S MAJOR SUCCESSES KATHY INGLESE BECAUSE
SHE COULDN'T RECRUIT THE BLACK PLAYERS TO COMPETE IN THE ACC.
KATHY EVEN MANAGED TO DEFEAT GINO. BC WAS CLEARLY THE TEAM TO BEAT IN BIG EAST AFTER
UCONN. CHECK HER GREAT RECORD. WOMEN'S COACH NOW MEDIOCRE BEING KIND.
I was at the game as a young teenager. The stadium was packed. They let in what seemed like 5k more people than the stadium had seats. Place was crazy and people were going bonkers. Guy two sections over had a fucking heart attack during the game.
Good old days with the freckled econ major at QB gunning passes to guys that anyone in the stands could have gone to high school with.
Those BC football teams in the 90's were my favorite teams in any sport ever. More than the 80's Celtics, the early 2000's BC hockey teams, the 2004 red sox ,the 85 Bears or the Craig Smith BC bb teams.
Glenn Foley had a lot of potential, unfortunately his substance abuse problems held him from reaching his true potential in the pros.
First I heard of that - thought it was injuries.
Me, neither. Has that been verified?
It's too bad that Darnell Campbell got dinged up a little bit, and was not in the game.
Also, DC looked a lot quicker getting the hand off and into the line than our current backs. It looks as though we coach our QB to hand off slowly as well.
Duh!
We pushed #3 WVU all over the field and lost. It was very hurtful, to say the least.
We long for the days of O-Line U.
Go BC - bring back some ummmphh.
Pretty insightful BJK, where ya been? Doing research, WV was 11-0 for the season and was blown out by Florida (41-7) in the bowl game. Losing 17-14, BC just wasn't emotionally up for it after the SI cover spread. BC opened the season 0-2 and Coughlin righted a sinking ship. Glenn Foley was masterful. Once again, Vince Lombardi comes to mind. He said that there is only one thing comparable to winning and that was losing. Being blown out week after week is not losing.
JBQ - when posting from my phone it shows up as "John". I'll fix it someday.
