Fumbles, Special Teams miscues and questionable pass D. Does that sound familiar? Fortunately BC's Offense remains prolific and the D made some stops late to beat Temple.
It should not be this hard. Daz took the blame last week. Will he this week? There is a lot to clean up if this team is going to reach its potential.
I will have grades and second viewing thoughts up this week.
I think we win at most two more games. Sloppy play, organization, and coaching will cost us several games against the ACC teams.
Am I the only one who thinks this team actually regressed from last year? Special teams are a absolute joke. Brown can't pass. Dillon looks like an average run-of-the-mill rb. The dbs look like deer in the headlights. And both lines are average, at best. The only bright spot was the second-string fullback. He ran with power and authority. Of course dazoshit will burry him back on the bench.
Honestly, I can't possibly see BC winning more than one or two more games in the teeth of ACC opponents.
With Dillon, you have to expect teams to load the box and key on him — the secret is out. So that requires more imagination with the play calling. Maybe getting him involved in pass game? Daz running the Andre Williams playbook on him and he is a different type of runner.
Big problems on D — we will lose a track meet against more talented teams than who we’ve played. And of course you can count at least one L on a special teams mistake.
The good news: with the announcement of the new athletics campaign the stakes have been raised big time. People are not going to shell out big $$$ to see a team squeak by Temple. Daz’s only hope is ACC sucks so bad he gets into champ game. 7-6 gets him the ESPN blazer.
Come on. Just say it. We are a team built for Purgatory.
FSU Francois has finally woken up.
We can beat both Louisville and FSU - or lose to both of them.
What's the word on AJ? I'm sure he will be day to day at best.
In addition to Glines, Levy made a fantastic first down when needed the most!
Go BC beat NC State. We're on to Raleigh, on to Raleigh.
BTW - I'm late on this, but I guess the ACC is not participating in the weekly injury report.
What's the scoop?
This was a very unsatisfying victory.
Most fans with a team that's 4-1, with lots of seniors, would be optimistic about the rest of the season. Like the overwhelming majority, I'm pessimistic. Daz has shown nothing in 6 years that gives us any confidence. Consistent special teams issues, lack of playing the right personnel in the right places, poor play calling, and just being a stupid in game coach. There is a legitimate chance that BC may only win 1 or 2 more games all season. The calls will only grow for Daz's job. If we get blown out at home by Miami and/or Clemson, Jarmond will need to show he has cojones and make the right decision at season end.
🖕Petrino. Nice going, Louisville.
Brown not the answer at QB..not accurate and zones in on receivers.. Daz is stubborn as a mule so he will stick with him but Perry should play next week at N.C. State
Don't hold your breath. Dazoshit has the innovative ability of a lame mule.
BC should hire the guy at Buffalo..incredible D3 record and has turned Buffalo around in 3 yrs, they crushed Temple & Rutgers..great offensive mind, will be Power 5 HC soon
We ran 100 plays, had a pretty good time of possession advantage and still had to sweat it out. Temple outgained us and played us tough.
Purdue was a better team, I guess and was able to stuff us a lot more effectively.
We have to play a lot better going forward.
The good news is that Sweeney was wide open, Smith was wide open and Smith back to Brown was wide open.
ACC is wide open. Sure, Miami killed UNC, but so did East Carolina. We can beat Miami in Boston in the Red Bandanna. VT is beatable; Louisville is beatable. Syracuse is a big challenge with Dungey. NC State will be tough in Raleigh, but beatable.FSU is beatable, unless Francois decides to play from here on - so they will be tough. And Clemson on Nov. 10th - anything is possible.
But of course we have some real stubborn head coaching. We could lose them all.
Watching the enthusiasm of the Penn State crowd. If only we had a team our fans could be proud of.
Spoke with some Temple fans today - they despise Daz. They were surprised to hear the BC fandom are not exactly Daz fans either.
They were jealous of our on campus stadium. After halftime, the student section cleared out which prompted a Temple fan to ask me "Where do the students go and why wouldn't they stay? They were great, full of energy in the first half." Pathetic student support - embarrassing to say the least.
The worst part of all of this is the ACC is wide open this year. 6 years into a rebuild, we should be gunning at the conference championship in a down year, not trying to figure out how we might even get to 6-6.
BC students are all from outside New England now, have no ties to school, area.
BC leadership is so terrible in so many areas, more concerned with taking kids from California then New England. Mahoney and entire staff should be fired. Academic rankings keep slipping and school keeps getting farther away from its foundation
Compare that to the frenzy enthusiasm of the Penn State fans tonight. I'm so jealous
The lack of student enthusiasm is sickening. But in all fairness, it's reflective of the current state of the program.
Yes, Georgia Eagle, but I'm not jealous of Happy Valley versus the City of Boston.
There has to be reach out to different groups in Boston, including former fans. Set up special deals and reach out for a group we'll call "College Football Fans" - people who work and live in Boston who hail from all over, and who were fans in their previous locations. Give them incentives, choose some leaders and recruit a bunch of them. And publicize and get some spirit going.
The best college football in New England, etc. Catch the action, Martin. Bring in some crowds. Figure it out.
I'm funny - I know. But for crying out loud - let's get 44,500 to Miami (don't care that it's Friday night) and Clemson. And 40,000 for the others.
And here's the deal - if Syracuse is a meaningful game, I don't care if it's Thanksgiving Weekend - FILL THE JOINT UP.
I said Syracuse would be a rival again, and many younger fans laughed. Stay tuned on that.
Great ideas but well above jarmond's ability. So far he has been as big a bust as Dazoshit.
Temple scored 17 points against FCS Villanova. They scored 35 on us. Our D cannot stop a good running game or a good passing QB. Carlson is thinking about his punt while he needs to be thinking about catching the snap - he is going to cost us a game unless he gets that under control. It's too bad because he had an otherwise good outing. Longman has the PAT/FG kicking job for the time being. Maybe Dillon did better running behind Petrula than Baker. Only way Brown should be starting is if he uses his legs and athleticism to move the sticks. He's not a good passer. I'd like to see Matt McDonald's arm.
In 2017, 2,290 BC students came from Massachusetts. 649 came from Connecticut. Shabby, saying all our students come from outside New England is just nuts. Saying the natives are not the sports fans their predecessors were, however, would be spot on.
We have regressed. I expected the o-line to be top caliber . . . they aren't! I expected the offense to be multi-dimensionable. It is not!Our QB is the same old Dazzo QB . . . not quite ACC caliber. This could be a very sad ending to what many of us thought would be a big turnaround. It is sad when 2 back-to-back hires (Spaz and Daz) can really set back for years what was once a very successful program. We should have never fired Jags!
We definitely agree that the kids of today are too busy tending to their phone rather then what’s happening around them in real life
25% is not a significant population, 15-20’years ago when BC was a higher rated school that number was probably 40%
We are NOT Notre Dame. We are a small commuter school that because of Doug Flutie and Doug Flutie only become more of a national name. We are still a small catholic school in Boston with very limited resources that restrict us athletically which restricts us academically. Other then then the Ancient 8 any school that is highly rated academically is superior athletically. Unfortunately our administration does not understand that and is the reason for our academic ranking slide
"The ESPN Blazer"? This sounds like some Rolodex of Love move involving Chris Berman, a bucket of fried chicken, and a bad case of carpet burn.
Daz has never seen a halftime adjustment he couldn't ignore. The sigh of relief was Purdue going nuts deep on Nebraska... so maybe they aren't terrible and just won the checkers match.
Yeah, the offense sucks, the defense is great and the special teams is average. Or was that last season? Not sure how you complain about the offense when they score 40 points a game.
If we can get a couple games against teams that don't play the fast break offense then we should get 8 wins.
Then the really bitching will begin. We should have won 10 games, should have gone undefeated . . . . Bizarre.
superb love to read the content UC mini download
Maryland beat Texas a top 25 team. Temple beat Maryland by three touchdowns. They held Maryland to 200 yards of offense while gaining 420. Temple is playing well. The game was very entertaining and the weather was perfect. Criticism of Dillon is misplaced. He had 160 yards while missing most of the 2nd half.He was great. Allen was fantastic. Cheevers very good. Sebastian struggled. Two weeks ago Brown was great. Last week he was bad .Yesterday's performance was in the middle. 2. The chicken little's of the world should calm down. BC is 4-1. 1-0 in conference. A solid September Everything they want to accomplish is available. No one left on the schedule is unbeatable.
US World News Reports tweaked the rankings in a big way by putting less emphasis on a school's acceptance rate and 3x the emphasis on affordability and ability to find ways for poorer students to attend. It was one of two changes to the ranking metrics (the other being less emphasis on standardized test scores).
BC dropped what ... 7 places?
Lol the defense sucks because it’s facing fast paced offenses. A hilariously Daz-esque excuse. And if that’s the case, every team left on the schedule will recognize that and go up tempo. It’s called coaching, something that Daz clearly hasn’t done in 6 years.
I remember U.S. News doing the same thing during my second year of law school. My alma mater dropped out of the top 25 and everybody made a huge deal about it. Professors apologized and reassured us it would only be temporary. The Deans even had an open question session for the students in the auditorium. Then next year we rose to the same ranking we had before the drop. You have to expect some type of fluctuation from year to year with rankings. Otherwise, nobody would purchase the magazine.
By the way, any word on Dillon?
I haven't heard anything, but I will say that I was very surprised that they didn't take him inside immediately for treatment.
Instead they taped him up - twice and left him on the bench for the rest of the game. I don't know if he could have played, if needed.
The point is, if his ankle injury turns out to be worse than a little tweak, it was bordering on malpractice to leave him out there without treatment. A tape job is not treatment.
I hope he's okay, of course and 100% available. But if not, the trainers lost an opportunity to get a jump on the treatment.
What are they going to do? Put ice on it?
No one, not even the NFL would do an MRI the same day.
Absent an open compound fracture, or pain control, there is nothing to be done
Plenty of ice, elevation, non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory medication, compression after soaking the foot in icy water etc. Get a head start on the swelling.
After the initial ice treatment, stretching, massage, physical therapy - and hope there is no serious ligament damage.
That could take the rest of the season before starting to heal if he keeps playing on it.
From personal experience with a sprained ankle running basketball drills, you lose a lot by wrapping the foot and telling the kid to drive himself to St. Elizabeth's. That first 1/2 hour to 1 hour is very important on how fast a player can recover.
I just hope he is okay, as well as Kobay White and Jeff Smith.
About 64% of BC undergrads are from the northeast.
“Because of Doug Flutie and Doug Flutie only.”
I want the seven places back. I want the school ranked in the top 25 academically.
Football attendance I think is down everywhere. Young males, in particular, have different interests. It's also evident that they have little interest in cars as well and the car companies are concerned about the future. Guess the guys are much deeper now as a result of the entertainment options at their disposal due to all the technology at their fingertips. We were a simpler lot - other than keeping up with academics - it was about women, great looking cars, rock music and sports. Hard to cruise down Main St. looking for love in a Prius. But it's their world now - not ours.
I might add to the list - Vietnam and the draft!
