I love the fight. I love the gutsy D. I hate the hole BC fell in during the first half. Lots to digest. I will have more tonight and tomorrow. I guess BC is still alive for a decent season but there is so much inconsistency.

Addazio has come into his own in the fourth quarter of the game. His calm in-game disposition instills great confidence in the players. I only look for great things in the future.
We are lucky if we win two more games
The first half was unacceptable. The second half was quite a turnaround. The mysterious call at 6 minutes with no whistle was taken care of with the blocked punt. BC just dug itself too big a hole in the first half.---AB was really inconsistent. Congratulations to Ben Glines. I feel bad for Daz. However, this was a "tale of two halves". This is a sixty minute game. BC showed great improvement. However, there was still no cigar.---Actually if BC can play for 60 minutes next week against Louisville at home, they can still stake a claim for a good bowl and Daz retaining his job. Based on the first half, Daz should be packing. Based on the second half, he has turned the corner.---AB needs some competition. He needs to be shown that he will not play no matter what. He looked really good at times. At other times, he stunk.
This goes into the coulda won the name, not shoulda won the game.
You can't give up over 500 yards on D and go 1-10 on 3rd downs on O and expect to win. They did not execute at key moments. The only reason this was close at the end was due to the 4 turnovers from NC State and the blocked kicks.
Iowa State just pulled their struggling quarterback and is leading Oklahoma State. I'm sorry but if you're QB can't convert 3rd downs, you have to make a change. Look at Alabama in the National Championship game last year. Addazio is just not a risk-taker. He plays too safe and that is why he will never be an elite college coach.
your QB. I did graduate from BC.
I give the kids credit for doubling down and nearly pulling this out. I blame Addazio and other coaches for not having them well-prepared. Same old story. Inconsistency and poor execution. Throw in crappy refereeing and there you have it.
Credit for not quitting and playing with urgency to make it close. Also, credit to special teams for a very good day. Had the team played with that sort of urgency from the opening whistle, we coulda won this one.
As I posted earlier, what we learned today was that N.C. State was who we thought we were.
UNREAL PEOPLE SAYING DAOSHIT COULD STILL RETAIN HIS JOB !!!!!!!!!!
AJ Dillon was left home since we are at home and this is not an option
Leave DAZZO in the locker room ENTIRE GAME.
PETER CARMICHAEL "FOR BOSTON"
They might ( Might) win two more games and go to another toilet bowl. Dazoshit's job is saved, yet again, and the cycle repeats itself. I don't know who I hate more, liberals or Dazoshit apologists.
Edward Griffith,
YOU ARE RIDICULOUS! Carmichael has been dead since 2016. If you want to at least sound intelligent (which you aren't) reference the right person, Carmichael Jr. STOP YELLING!
Explain bout your hate. Maybe you can convince some people who just think and don't "hate"
Is it genetic or regional or what? Some can argue intellectually without demonizing or hatred. Can you?
A close loss on the road to a ranked team while playing without your best player is nothing to be ashamed of. Meanwhile, Clemson is back on track. They lead WF 56-3 about halfway through the 4th.
Comrade joey, I'm with you, bro. I think college football should share the wealth and redistribute some of those 4 and 5 star recruits to BC. After all, it's only FAIR.
Well it didn't ultimately make the difference in the game, someone explain to me why he went for two at 28-16 instead of one.
Why do the coaches continually tie the players' hands behind their backs with sh!t!y play calling early?
We knew Spaz decimated the program and it was going to be an uphill battle for whomever took over. But, 6 years should be enough. Tom O'Brien walked into a pretty tough situation too and went 9-4 in his 6th season, defeating Notre Dame and winning the bowl game.
Now, I'm realistic. Boston College, a highly academic institution in a pro sports town with a very small enrollment is never going to win a national title in football. Keep in mind, Notre Dame, with its own tv network and much more storied history than BC, has not won a title in 30 years. Large state schools with huge alumni backing are the only teams that can win titles in this era (it has been 14 years since a private school, USC, has won a title). That's the hard truth. But, we should expect a couple 8-9 win seasons each decade. That is doable. I don't think Addazio is capable of achieving this goal.
Well stated EagleBoston.
With the loss today, Addazio has 70 games under his belt as head coach at BC. Today, with the loss, he dropped to 35-35. In conference he is 15-27, and he's only won 7 conference games since 2015. He won a total of 8 in his first two years. There's nothing that signals from any statistics this is headed in the right direction. Daz is probably going to be lucky if he wins two more conference games this year. This is the 6th year. Dude, when is it going to be beautiful?
Defense couldn't get off the field today. State went 10-15 versus our putrid 1-10. Without the turnovers, this could have been a huge blowout.
Next week is huge since Louisville is the worst team left on the schedule.
And not a word from Jarmond - the hero of the pc-left in this forum.
Georgia Eagle, you're right. Jarmond needs to speak up now. Not later, now.
We would be down by 10 points, meaning we wouldn't HAVE to score two touchdowns to send the game to OT or win it. We could afford to settle for a FG on a drive.
Dear Fly Away : PLEASE check New Orleans Saints Web Page .com coaches
Seems to deviate from your Brilliance DO FLY AWAY And take your BUDDY spaz with you
HA - HA - HA - HA
Addazio is now 1-14 against ranked teams at BC.
Look at the box score. BC was totally dominated in every category. TOP ? Greater than 2x. A ridiculous number of first downs. Need a change at QB. Saban, Swinney, and Kelly, have all done it this season. Coach to win now, put the QB in who gives you the best chanc to win now, this season, these games.
BC was a plus 4 in turnovers and had a blocked FG and lost. Louisville is the only possible W left on the schedule
I don't know that I have ever seen - or at least I can't remember a time of possession disparity like that. NC State 41.30, BC 18.30.
Wow.
Let’s face it, we’re stuck with Daz for a few more seasons at least. Jarmond doesn’t have the testicular fortitude to make any big moves.
Follow that, but keep the field goal in play down 11. Go for the 2 hypothetically when you absolutely have to.
41.30 to 18.30, didn't know it. Hard to believe. By the way, where did Troy go? He had one more year of eligibility. I presume that he is still on campus. --- I now believe that there is a whole lot of politics wrapped around AB. Part of the problem is that he knows that he will play no matter what. To a large extent, he is playing very well. However, he needs competition and he knows that is not going to happen.---McDonald would be too independent and not always hand the ball off to Dillon. So, why even recruit the son of an all Pac-12 quarterback if he is just going to be "practice fluff"? It is easy to add 2 and 2 and I don't even get 5 like the adviser to the pope.
Dazoshit is incapable of innovation . A QB change may ignite this team. Nope. Not for Daz the Dope.
Next week at Louisville is a must win for BC to have a shot at getting to 6-6. If BC loses next week they might pick up a win agiansf Florida State or Syracuse but are likely headed to a 5-7 or worse. Games against Miami, Virginia Tech and Clemson are almost certain losses and potentially ugly blow outs.
My sense is that 5-7 or worse will get Daz fired. Jarmond owes him nothing and presumably had the green light to can him last year until BC went on a strong run to close out the season. I spoke with Jarmond two weeks ago at parents weekend. He is young and full of energy. I bet he is itching to make his mark on the football program and hire his own guy but until Daz drops below 6-6 I suspect he will be allowed to finish out his contract which still has two more years beyond this year.
Your prediction just reinforced the valid belief that 6-6 mediocrity and a truly shit coach is perfectly acceptable at The Heights, and that is disgusting!
GE, I agree that it's disgusting, but is STL wrong? Addazio has been 7-6 in 4 of his 5 years here (the less said about the 3-9 season the better). In the eyes of the powers that be, that appears to be good enough. This is despite a mostly easy out of conference schedule.
A win at Louisville gets us to 5 wins. They're dreadful, so we have a reasonable chance at winning there. I agree with STL that FSU or Syracuse are games we really need to win. As long as we're bowl-eligible, Daz is probably safe. How much of that is on Martin Jarmond? How much support would he have from Fr. Leahy to eat the last 2 years at a total of about $5 million?
Valid points and questions. But do you really believe schools with winning traditions would stand for year after year of mediocrity? What the hell are we, Rice?
Do not underestimate the impact that the newly launched $150mil campaign could have on this.
When the feedback about coaching mediocrity from large donors becomes an obstacle to this campaign’s success in the form of withholding funds, moves will have to be made in the money sports. It’s Jaramond’s pocket ace to overrule Leahy.
Make no mistake — Jaramond is clearly looking to make his mark with the fundraising. The coaching moves are secondary. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I think that context is important as things unfold.
Only sure thing while the campaign gets rolling is bowl eligibility — Daz misses he is gone. Other than that, I suspect he can hold on.
GE - I'd love for BC to be more like Rice if that also meant being ranked 16th in the country academically tied with the likes of Cornell - instead of a downward trending 38th with a long term mediocre track record in football and basketball.
Nice post. I study something tougher on different blogs everyday. It can always be stimulating to learn content material from different writers and apply somewhat one thing from their store. I’d favor to use some with the content on my blog whether or not you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a hyperlink on your net blog. Thanks for sharing. real money casino
