After the game, Addazio kept mentioning that this was a very physical game. Aside from the targeting issues and some unlucky injuries, I didn't see it. It looked just like the other games. We are almost at the midpoint of the season and watching Watching the game back shows clear patterns developing. I hope that the coaches start fixing the troublesome patterns because once again, the game was much closer than it should have been.
Offense: B+
Brown was very inconsistent in this game. He made a few nice throws and then some terrible ones. He also threw into double coverage multiple times (he was lucky one INT was bobbled). While he didn't get any balls batted this week, there were some weird arm angles. He did show some toughness in the pocket and improved speed.
Dillon was more disciplined this week with his reads and hitting the holes. Glines looked very good just executing the basic offense. Levy got a few touches.
Smith had some drops. Sweeney's TD was great. White also did well in running after the catch. Lewis' one drop was almost a highlight catch. He has great potential. Walker did well getting right where he needed to be for first downs.
The Oline's job was simplified and they played better. I think the jumbo and bunch formations are what we should stick with. Just wear everyone down. It actually pairs well with tempo. As you saw with Glines, we were set and ready to run and Temple was worn out. Baker struggled a bit with penalties. Lindstrom was good. Petrula played well.
Aside from the heavy usage for bunch, BC didn't add many new wrinkles this week. They did have Dillon on some quasi-zone reads but until Brown is a threat to run, those won't be game breakers. I also want to see us use even more play action. It worked against Wake and teams are still crowding the box. Punish them for doing so.
Defense: C
Allen carried the D and we are lucky he did since the rest of the DLine was not as good. Ray was quiet. Smith had plenty of tackles but they were coming right at him for much of the game. Karafa was fine. I don't know why they didn't rotate the other young guys in, but they should have. We need to see if any of them can step up.
Richardson did not have a great game. He's is not shedding blockers well. Strachan missed some tackles. Lamont had a few tackles.
Sebastian struggled again. It almost seemed like Temple was throwing at him. Torres had some better moments but still had a few issues. Harris was pretty good. Denis didn't get to do much before he was tossed.
BC is 72nd in total D and we haven't played great Offenses. Addazio is mentioning the inability to get off the field. I think it is more about lack of adjustments. Temple kept running inside zones on us and we couldn't stop it or any other designed run up the middle. It was the same against Wake and Purdue. This needs to be fixed. I also am frustrated that the corner play is not getting better. Where are the adjustments there?
Special Teams: C
I think they made a necessary change on the PAT. The kick and punt coverage was better. I don't know what happened on the fumbled punt attempt. The snap was fine, so it was just a straight untouched drop.
Walker and Glines were fine on returns. I know Walker fumbled again, but in my opinion that was more on Daz. He elected to receive a kick again instead of just tacking the yards onto the previous return. Naturally the return team would be tired and more likely to make mistakes.
Overall: B-
This was supposed to be a bounce back game. Yes, BC got the win. But the mistakes of the prior games remained and that's on Addazio. Beyond the frustration, the other questionable ingame decision was how he still had the team running tempo with the lead in the 4th quarter. I know it is hard to slow down after practicing tempo for so long, but eating up more clock was the better idea when trying to close out an opponent. Imagine if failure to kill clock costs us a game in the near future. Good teams are able to switch when the situation calls for it.
He should take solace in his recruiting, because talent remains the reason we keep winning these sloppy games.

It was stated that Tessitore was 14-18 on extra points. A trained seal could do better than that. That is 77% with a good holder in Jeff Smith who rotates the laces.---4-1 will soon be 4-8 or 5-7. What happens then? Syracuse should have beaten Clemson. That was counted to be a win.---If not for Zach Allen, they would be in real trouble. Look for double teams on Allen and a number of blowouts. NC State should be the beginning of the end finally for the Dazzler.
Agreed. This should be the break-out year. Instead this team may get blown-out by an undefeated ncstate. I honestly don't see more than one or two more wins. Dazoshit gotta go.
Even if we beat NC State, the only the other winnable game I see for us is Louisville. FSU still sucks, but seems to be slightly improving. We are not beating Miami or Clemson as Daz has a putrid record against ranked opponents. Cuse looks very solid this year and will be very tough to beat this year. So in this “best case scenario”, 8 wins is our ceiling, with another 7-5 record being a more likely result.
For what it’s worth, I think NC State is going to expose our defensive flaws and win by 14+ this Saturday giving us a 6-6 season at best. That Purdue loss should never have happened and has already ruined what should have been a special year for BC. Daz is a caveman unwilling to adapt to modern football and BC continues to suffer for it. Anything less than 8 wins this season and Jarmond should be finding a replacement.
Me and Eagle2014 in complete agreement. Life is good.
Doreen is more of a meathead then the Dazzler
NC State has not played anybody. They have the best QB in league but no one has any idea about their team. Allen & Ray need to have big games pressuring him. BC always plays them tough and Saturday should be no different.
Biggest question which will be the same all year is Brown’s play. ATL highlights it above, his inconsistency makes the team inconsistent. Dillon not playing hurts but if Brown plays well and throws with accuracy BC should win by a touchdown
Coach Addazio is getting the max out of this team, with the exception of benching young Tessitore. BC won by ten last week; they could have stuck with Tessitore and let him work things out. Instead they lost free ESPN pub.
We all know 6 or 7 wins is the best you're going to do at BC. Coach has met that standard each year but one. Once he clears out the players who played with players who played under Coach Spaziani, he'll have cleansed the stench of his predecessor's years and be ready to roll.
Are you shitting me, Observer? This is Dazoshit's sixth-year. Spaz's players are long gone. Leave it to a Daz apologist like you to be perfectly content with 6-7 wins per season. Unbelievable.
Twitter is stupid.
We are beating NC State. Unless our QB blows his knee out or they throw a last second TD. We always beat them unless there extenuating circumstances.
You all need therapists.
I suspected that but blew my stack. I'm so gullible lol
Knuck, if you're right I'll go to the therapist of your choice.
WE REALLY NEED TO ASK OURSELVES :
HOW LONG WOULD THE FAKE (faux) IRISH ND
PUT UP WITH THE BULL SHIT YEARS AND CRUMMY LOSING FOOTBALL OF SPAZ and DAZ ???
The goal should be 8 or 9 wins a season. Daz is stealing 2.4 million.
A good coach 3 million.
Daz is going nowhere. He has all of those connections to Ohio State which now include the new AD. He has a political game plan and recruiting agenda which are conducive to the wishes of the Jesuit red head.---Kelly at ND just made a big maneuver in changing quarterbacks. That is exactly what the Daz should have already done. It is becoming obvious that winning is not a big priority at BC.---TOB was in every game. He made plenty of mistakes but his teams were fun to watch. Watching the BC of today is like "watching paint dry". Not a trick play in six years. How can you fake a field goal when you don't try any? No reverses on kick returns. No imagination.----The Atlanta Falcons are fun to watch because of Mattie Ice. He and his young family have Atlanta in his hip pocket to the tune of 100 million guaranteed our of 150 for the next five years. The defense is no good but he is exciting.---As Monk the TV Detective would state, "McDonald is the guy".
I don't think AB is the problem. While he is far from perfect, the Wake game showed what happens when BC is able to establish the run game and set up the play action. AB made some great throws and lit up an ACC team for 5 TD's and 0 picks.
BC's problem is that Daz calls a very predictable gameplan, so each week opposing defenses have more and more film on us and know exactly when we'll run and throw the ball. Since the Purdue game, you've been seeing defenses load the box on first and second to stifle Dillon and then drop back on third down to defend the pass. When the run game is not working, then AB is forced into quick 3 and outs and making risk throws into tight coverage. I'm not sure if Daz gives AB the liberty to call audibles, but the blame is on both for not changing up the plays at the scrimmage once they see the defense is cheating to stop the run.
Agreed. Damn, kid. You aren't half-bad for a PC lib.
Georgia, I recommend a group session for the lot of you with a Dr.Ford of Palo Alto. Make sure you have 2 doors.
Mod, you are an idiot. They cancelled that ad campaign two years ago. Why is everything you say wrong?
Lol. You are incorrigible.
Thanks GE! In between writing my thesis on the merits of Das Capital and campaigning for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's 2020 presidential bid, I find some time to follow BC Football. My only gripe with the football team is their sexist slogan "Be a Dude!" "Be a Person" would be much more PC if you ask me!
The problem is what I said it was 3 weeks ago. Dillon is hurt. He was hurt and slow against Purdue and didn't want to run directly up the field into contact which porked the entire offense. He nutted up mostly against Temple and will do so this weekend.
Dazzler smartly kept him on the sidelines in the 3-4 but warming so if Temple got within a score he could put back in.
Was a smart move.
Mod, is a bigot.
Lol. There you go. You just showed your humorous, satirical side. Definitely not PC.
Dillon was hurt against Wake too but their defense is undersized so we crushed them and he was not intimidated/concerned with the injury.
Don't forget - we can expose NC State's defense, as much as they can expose ours.
We can win a shootout with our guys. It's the close games that are managed too conservatively that we can and do lose.
I was at the game in at Cartear Finley in 2006 when TOB played it way, way, way too conservatively. We were the better team but it wasn't until late in the game that Matty Ice pushed us to the go ahead touchdown with only minutes to play, 15 to 10.
We had them right where TOB wanted them, with their 3rd string QB (whose father was the radio announcer) under center.
Spaziani's defense let the Wolfpack move down the field by playing soft, and then gave up a 25 or 30 yard Hail Mary to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We lost 17 to 15 with time running out.
That's what I worry about. Bull shit conservative coaching.
Go BC - beat NC State. It can be done, if we open the playbook, instead of playing Spazadazadoofus ball.
This is college football - open it up.
JBQ - Concerning trick plays, the reverse to Jeff Smith who then threw a TD pass back to QB Brown was nice. That would qualify. But I know that coaches try to save stuff for the meat of the schedule.
Our favorite Tom Coughlin stewed about the ND performance of '92 all year and payback was a bitch, as they say. In '93 he defeated the #1 Fighting Irish in the same stadium where he lost 54 to 7 by superior coaching and employing a scheme that he hadn't shown the entire season - at least that's the way I saw it. He used plays that were not used in the other games.
WIKI:
"The Most Interesting Man in the World was an advertising campaign for Dos Equis beer. The ads featured a bearded, debonair gentleman with voice overs that were both humorous and outrageous and the slogan 'Stay Thirsty My Friends'. The advertisements first began appearing in the United States in 2006 and became a popular Internet meme. The campaign was ended in 2018. "
also completely beside the point as to when it ran.
Looks like Knuckle is still overly interested in my posts. Stay obsessed my friend.
very odd person, i would say
Yeah, they are on another ad campaign now. Odd how you replay with stupid crap from the internet instead of reading what you wrote and what is written.
Ask ATL for shut people down because you cannot deal with criticism of moronic comments that you continually defend and then call other people weak sheep.
You are delusional.
Cannot wait for BC to can Dazzler, have move to Ohio State as the OC 1B to whomever and Ryan Day to come in here and run the show. Cannot wait. The more loses we have the closer gets. You are an idiot.
Don’t see BC getting within double digits of NCST.
