Reading into the preview

This is the ACC Network's preview of the BC-Florida State game. It has the usual stuff but what really got my attention was how down Willie Taggart seemed in the video. I know it is just a press conference, but I hope his lack of energy is an indicator for how his team is feeling right now.

Didnt he accuse some of his players of quitting against Clemson? FSU has mailed it in. If we lose this game, then we need to seriously consider some changes at the top.

FSU might still be motivated... they need to beat BC to maintain their 36 year bowl streak.

Let's not become complacent like the Perdue game. This 8th win is critical to ensure a step forward and progress.

UMass at UGA this Saturday, and the Citadel at Alabama. What a joke.

Our own fans rank us out for scheduling these games - just look at the big boys

Geezer eagle said...

Agree. Those games are egregious mismatches and total travesties.

BC's non conference schedule dwarfs Bama's. Ark.ST., Louisiana and the Citadel. Purdue and Temple are far more competitive than the Tide's foes. 2. The Cuse game is at noontime on 11-24. Hope it is not snowing. It is only in the thirties today in Boston. It should be in the fifties. So much for global warming. 2.Opportunity knocks with the FSU and Cuse games. Even if the Cuse loses to ND they will still be ranked. Two wins and a top 15 ranking awaits.

My only fear about the Syracuse game time is the crowd - or lack thereof.

This is a huge game for Boston College, and one we need to win badly for several reasons.

Concerning FSU, I hope the defense responds and plays to their capabilities. I don't care if we win a low scoring game, as long as we win.

The more I think about the Clemson game, which I attended (it wasn't cold enough), the defense really played a great game. 2 TDs and 2 FGs to the Clemson juggernaught, when Clemson had the ball for almost a full quarter longer.

Let that sink in some more.

Go BC - stymie FSU and bring one home!!!!!

I hope AB and AJ are okay - and both should be held out as far as I'm concerned. We need these players to get medically okay.

Shabby1011 said...

BC should rest AB & Dillon for FSU. Perry and dose of Levy, Glines and Bailey should get it done with our D playing at the level they are.

Need all hands on deck to beat Cuse in for all intensive purposes bigger then Clemson. If BC beats FSU and Cuse loses to ND both team will be ranked about 15, Cuse is BC ‘s biggest rival imho. Both teams don’t like each other and both will be 8-3 with winner outside shot at New Years Bowl

Beat FSU!

One follow up on Clemson:

At Texas A&M; Syracuse and at BC are the only 3 games that the Tigers have had this year where their offense "struggled". I think Alabama will beat them handily because of that.

Clemson 27 Boston College 7
Clemson 77 Louisville 16
Clemson 59 FSU 10
Clemson 41 NC State 7
Clemson 63 Wake Forest 3
Clemson 27 Syracuse 23
Clemson 49 Georgia Tech 21
Clemson 38 Georgia Southern 7
Clemson 28 Texas A&M 26
Clemson 48 Furman 7

I agree with Shabby that for all intents and purposes the Syracuse game is bigger than the Clemson game - as long as we beat FSU.

Shabby said "Cuse is BC ‘s biggest rival imho. Both teams don’t like each other and both will be 8-3 with winner outside shot at New Years Bowl". Absolutely.

It's funny how many on this board counted Syracuse as an easy win before the season started.

We'll get to all the reasons to hate Syracuse - but first, our game Saturday is HUGE as well.

Go BC - beat Florida State on their field!!!!

I do hope we play with reckless abandon. If Spadazzle goes conservative against a desperate FSU we will be disappointed with the result. They beat us and they continue their bowl streak because 5-7 teams will be getting in all over the place this year.

BJK, it's a great to see how the old Big East teams, Cuse, Pitt, and BC, outside of Clemson, are the ones competing for the top of the ACC this year. I get that FSU is having a "down year" but this year is a continuation of last year's FSU. They're going to struggle to return to prominence. Barbers has done an excellent job building Syracuse's depth; Narduzzi has Pitt rolling, and Addazio, should he pull off the rest of the season, would have effectively rebuilt BC from the catastrophe that was Spaz.

The only thing better than beating the dam cuse in any thing is winning every phase of the
Holy War from field hockey to FOOTBALL-BASKETBALL .
Hope the kids come back for it. Beating FSU and the cuse would end a great
regular season.
It should get Dazzo-shit one extra year. A good-very good Bowl win two years .

NO one will STEAL Him.

McDonald better be ready to play. Perry is not going to make it through this game.

The lack of retaliation for the #42 hit on AB means it is open season on the Eagles.

Get ready.

Hey, basketball is back, and as 16 point home favorites, losing to the national powerhouse known as IUPUI. I won't pretend I know what that acronym stands for. Thank God we have Christian to make us forget about Daz's coaching!!!

lost*

rgmarine said...

off topic just had my first look at the Basketball team and they lost to iupu which was 11-19 last year and hasn't had a winning season in 6 yrs. they looked terrible.Their big man athleticism is pathetic as they surrendered far too many offensive rebounds. If this is a preview of the type of play to come then we are in for a very long season. I'm very disappointed in Christian's tenure at this point and if this team continues down this losing path he must be replaced. i'm embarrassed by this performance.

hsk said...

Replaced ? The man just got an extension.

rgmarine said...

OMG forgot about the extension. Jarmond might have to make a serious coaching decision down the road. I hope this game is totally out of character but my eyes showed me a serious lack of athleticsm that will kill them against virtually most any team they play.

What the HELL is an IUPI ??????????
DUMP CHRISTIAN IMMEDIATELY AND MAKE DANYA HEAD COACH.

DAZZO-SHIT and Christian TWO SAD DUDES. EXPEL them from "THE HEIGHTS"

DO IT "FOR BOSTON "

John said...

Wow - disgraceful.

Anne Marie/Edward, if the Eagles beat both FSU and Syracuse, I'll bet Daz gets more than a one year extension. If AB is out for FSU, I think the game is at best a tossup and at worst a loss. Perry hasn't shown much and Dillon is clearly hurt. Without a healthy AB, Syracuse will probably beat us pretty handily. There's a chance that we'll have yet another 7-6 since Daz struggles to win bowl games. That probably won't be enough to have Jarmond pull the trigger.

Basketball is a train wreck. Losing to IUPUI after barely beating St. Francis doesn't exactly bode well for ACC play. And we extended Christian (the second highest paid BC employee after Daz). It's enough to make one puke.

We're heading over to Tallahassee for the game, meeting up with a BC classmate and some other Eagles. I don't see how Brown and Dillon can be 100%. This game is making me very nervous; I hope our defense plays lights out again, and that we can generate a modicum of offense. I just don't trust Daz not to screw things up.

Losing to IUPUI is hugely embarrassing. Jim Christian is a nice guy, but progress has been very disappointing. I just don't think he's an ACC level coach. Tired of this.

Knucklehead said...

Mod with the weird analogy of Jarmond to a mouse again.

Jarmond didn't shoot and mis 3 after 3 in the last 5 minutes of the game last night.

Another dopey nonsensical shot at a manager.

You don't have your own "biz" mod. Unless it is a Paul Newman situation. You know nothing about Boston College of that reference needs an explanation.

ATL has picked BC to win in 16 straight games. I think it is time for him to quit doing this.

Big Jack Krack said...

We're on to Tallahassee for a must win.

No letdown, men - you can do this.

Bring one home - this is a very important game.

Go BC - beat Florida State.

Geezer eagle said...

Tony, ATL is a hopeless rah-rah. Nobody takes his predictions seriously anymore.

Seth Jones. A three star WR out of Texas. Don’t know if UT or ND offered him, but he did make visits there. Probably too early for them wrt 2020, who knows.

Of course, if you don’t have a QB that can get people the ball...

National source just said Jeff Brohm will take Louisville job. They will be a problem in the Atlantic if true. Great coach
