Signing Day thoughts

It is all hype and all projection, but even with the rollercoasters of the past week, it is clear this is Addazio's best BC recruiting class. Nearly every player had multiple P5 offers other than BC. We hit the traditional recruiting grounds and we restocked positions of need.

Rivals ranked BC 57th. 247 ranked BC 55th.

One thing that I found interesting is that Addazio believes the early signing period helps BC and keeps other schools from poaching more of his recruits.

By the unofficial count, it looks like BC is down to 82 scholarships. Maybe there will be some additional signings -- although there is not much else out there -- or some transfers into the program.

Freshman QB John Langan is leaving BC for Rutgers. The logjam at QB was going to have some repercussions, so his move makes sense. Best of luck to him.

Here is Addazio's press conference.

Wont allow myself to watch that press conference. The BC bootlicking sycophants who work in the AD dept. must be the 48 views.

Did Mod write this post? It makes no sense and shows zero knowledge of Boston College football. Restocked positions of need is like saying Mod can think for himself. It is totally wrong.

The program needed to be restocked at the D line position the last three years. They have not brought in anyone. They ran Allen, Ray Smith and Ray into the ground the last three years and used zero backups because they don't have any.

Like I said at the bginning of this season. This was the year to make hay and bring the program back. The coach failed the program by the way he coached the FSU game and players were asleep in the Syracuse game. This season was a failure. The recruiting this season and the last two show at utter lack of foresight. If Kvion Berryman or the Lawrence Academy kid are dropped on the field and can stop the run out of the fucking blue that is great. I don't see it happening.

Mod is a dumb pig.

ATL continues to paint a rosey picture. How the hell is the 57th best recruiting class good? Bad coaching combined with mediocre recruiting classes is a strategy for failure.
Cudos to Mod for taking the high road with knucklehead. Knuck, smoke the peace pipe with your mortal enemy. It's Christmas, dude.

12/14 in the ACC is dreadful. If this is Addazio's best recruiting class, there better be quite a few hidden gems here. Otherwise, pumping up this group is like putting lipstick on a pig. I realize that you win on the field, not in the recruiting game, but it sure helps to have talent.

I watched the presser. My conclusion remains that Daz is a great salesman, particularly with Catholic school kids/families. He sells the Jesuit story well and knows he has the lure of big time ACC opponents like Clemson, Miami and FSU in his hip pocket.
He does an excellent job finding and recruiting smart, high character players with upside potential that will represent the University well. He also stopping looking at juco players as a panacea. This is what Leahy values most.

When the players get to campus, he is able to motivate them to overachieve and can sometimes further develop the ones with talent. We all know that his game day management is a Dazaster. This is what angers hard core fans.

So what did we just pay for? Essentially a great executive director of the BC Football Summer Camp. He can attract the pool of student athletes to Boston College that can do well here, and in the ACC on the field and off. He just cannot get them to the next level on the field once they arrive on campus and is unwilling or unable to attract the right coordinators to do the job for him. His need to be over involved in that aspect is his downfall.

Perhaps he might do well in the ASU-Herm Edwards as football CEO model. But not here. Not ever. #ClownShowGotToGo

His best class is rated #57? And his supposed strength is recruiting? Hmm, what does that tell you ...

If Addazio were a used car salesman how many would he be able to unload on ATL?

Mod, your reverse psychology to shame me for responding to your stupid comments is weak and old. Your garbage comment needs to be highlighted for being garbage.

You are hysterical too. That Ryan Day QB signing has you defensive as all holy hell.

Pig.

Pig being called a pig doesn't mean someone is angry. It means they think you are a pig. Deal with it.

I'm done with BC Football. The fact that some people think this is a good class, really just hides the facts of what is really happening. Ranked 54. Whoopee. Means we are better than about 10 power five programs and a handful of non power fives are probably ahead of us. Like it has been mentioned. OBrien was in the 20-30's consistently and that led to being ranked consistently. He should have been fired after year 5 when his vision for the program failed. And from Day 1: I never supported the hire. Just ask Temple and Florida. Sorry everyone, I am rehashing many of my old posts. And I'd love it if on the blog we can stay on topic.

I wonder if ATL is a paid advertiser for the regime (leahy, Jarmond and Dazoshit)?

The type of people he can offer to is limited. Religion, academic demands, quality of the person, new england, administration criteria. His recruiting isn't the problem moron. He coaches the games defensively when he thinks we can win and agressively when he thinks we cannot. His in game coaching is marginal.

You are dumb as shit.

If the training wheels were taken off recruiting Boston College would be a top 15 program annually.

The school is a zoo, although a quiet one. The administration knows it and keeps as tight as lid as they can. Students and athletes.

You want another gambling scandal?

You would bitch about that if it happened too.

Your comments are stupid.

Godhelp you you are as dumb as horseshit.

I dont eagle action posted here the comments section either. I can read their stats off their website.

Take your Rutgers trained regurgitation of someone else's content somewhere else.

I wish someone would ask TEHC (The Extended Head Coach) if he understands the meaning of football game planning and in game coaching insanity.

He tells our opponent what he is going to do, and then keeps doing it when it doesn't work with no plan for adjustments.

It's really beyond pitiful.

I hope it doesn't happen, but if we get blown out by Boise State, TEHC should be fired for his poor performance.

Geezer eagle said...

Big Jack, please don't remind us of the moron we have for a HC. ItsI crushing my chrChrist spirit.

bceagle91 said...

Even if Boise State wins by 40+, there's no way TEHC gets fired. Fr. Leahy wouldn't eat 2 more years of salary. So we're stuck with a coach who in his best recruiting class (per ATL), ranks in the bottom part of the Power 5. As we've seen over and over again, he's dreadful in game with a predictable offense and predictable mismanagement of the game clock. He's also dreadful in terms of how he acts on the sidelines. Other than that, he's a fine coach and deserving of 4 more years at $2.5 million per.

I noticed that no one from the metro Atlanta area is in the class. BC has been recruiting the city in recent years and has usually plucked one or two from down here. This was supposed to be one of the perks to joining the league 13 years ago.

As just one example, Kyle Hamilton is a five star DB from my high school, which is private Catholic, and is going to ND. He had initial offers from places like Duke, Vandy, Wake, and some mid-majors. He had some good camps before his senior season and then every football factory down here offered him- UGA, Clemson, Auburn, FSU, etc. I didn’t see anything from BC, not even in the initial offer list.

I wonder if this year was just an anomaly or if the rise of UGA and Clemson have made it even more difficult for schools like BC to poach from this fertile ground. There are, after all, three kids from my high school on UGA, two of whom don’t play and may never play given the elite talent in Athens. Just curious-wish I had an avenue by which to ask the staff these kinds of questions. The recruiting process is a fascinating one to me. In Twitter scholarship speak, I would be blessed to have the answers.

Read the Globe today. If it is honest then your answers are there.

CT, I have bemoaned the mystery of why academically eligible 4-star kids would rather sit on the benches of the football factories then start and star at BC. It defies logic.

Success at the level of 56th best recruiting class would require a coach at least of the
level of Tom O'Brien.

Success with DAZZO=Shit requires classes in very low thirties.

4-star OL Xavier Truss from Bishop Hendrickson, Warwick, RI has signed with the University of Georgia.

6'7" 350 - the kind of guy who BC could really develop and who is advertised as a great run blocker who really moves people around in the run game.

I don't know if we even got a sniff.

Big Jack Krack said...

The point is that if TEHC is going to continue with his hard-headed scheme, he needs big guys coming in - not 240 pounders who he bulks up to 290.

We need an OL that averages 330 plus on the 2-deep.

Petrula should be back at center for the Bowl Game and Baker should have a clipboard on the sideline as a graduate assistant.

Wake up, Mr. EHC.

Yes. Petrula at Center.

Perfect example of the recruiting not being the issue.

No kickers in the recruiting class. Lichtenberg is a senior. Tessitore and Longman are freshmen but does anyone think they're the answer? Tessitore was 14 for 18 on extra points. He didn't attempt a field goal. Longman was 3 for 3 on extra points and 1 for 1 on field goals, booming a 26 yarder. He was our kickoff man and put 4 kickoffs out of bounds. He did have 13 touchbacks on 60 kicks so he seems to have a strong leg. Is Addazio all in on him?

JBQ said...

With deference to "mod", how can a kicker be 14-18 on extra points? That would be 7-9 and 77%. A "blind duck" could do better than that. His deference to ESPN is right on target. Four kicks out of bounds by Longman is just one more sorry a--ed stat that major programs just do not tolerate. It is the small things that win games.

Knucklehead said...

The other commenter made the point about kicking. Mod didn't think of that he just found the stats. He couldn't think critically if his "biz" depended on it.

bceagle91 said...

Exactly, Knuck. My point was that 14 of 18 on extra points and having the coaches not giving you a chance to kick a field goal was a statement that they have no trust in Tessitore. Longman's erratic, as the out of bounds kickoffs indicate. Unless we pick up a fifth year transfer, those are our choices. That's cringe-worthy. Extra points will remain exciting.

eagletix said...

"Best class ever", which may be, but falling further behind both ACC competitors and nationally at a class rated in the 50's. So being "best class ever" really doesn't mean much, does it.

Knucklehead said...

This team is going to get absolutely destroyed next season(6 win maximum). The middle of the defense is as weak as a Mod comment. The DT, MLB's and Safeties are soft. The kicking game is below marginal. Fumbles McGee Michael Walker is gone but so are his return yards. The offense doesn't have a coordinator and was mismanaged when it had one. The schedule next season will be more difficult.

Mod, it must be a one man show at Mod, Inc. Or the employees(TGS your go to?) are as porked in the head as you are. Who would work for someone who throws low sum donations at their alma mater to try and prove a backwards point? That is why I don't believe you run your own business. You aren't sharp enough and cannot think straight.

Dummy.
