A few Friday links

The Globe published a long feature today on former BC Basketball player Burnett Adams. Adams did not graduate and makes statements that someone falsified classes on his transcript some 25 years ago. The angle of the piece is anti-BC and anti-college athletics. I don’t want to besmirch Adams or his intentions. He’s matured and is trying to get his degree. I will defend BC in this. First this is from long ago and many of the principles and proof are unavailable. Second, this doesn’t reflect the BC environment now. There are plenty of athletes and regular students who are not engaged academically and not concerned with graduating today, but the school doesn’t allow them to just slip through the cracks. Academic advisors will reach out to struggling students. Student athletes definitely get extra support when they get off track. I know summer is a slow news time but I wish the Globe had taken a different angle with this article. 25 years is a long time and BC is clearly going above and beyond to help Adams now.

While our non-conference schedule is lacking our overall schedule is considered very difficult.

The first video on this page is an ACC preview. Dodd likes this year’s team.

Derrick Rossy is looking to rebound from his first professional loss.

At the very end of this piece is a little note on Spaz attending Patriots practice.
