This shocked me -- Scout thinks we are a Top 20 team next year. I appreciate the enthusiam...I just think Scout is underestimating the potential struggles of the offense next season.

ProFootball Weekly ranks Matt Ryan as the best QB in the upcoming draft.

Draft Insiders thinks Parcells might take Ryan with the first overall pick. (Thanks to Staar and Tim for the link.)

I think we have earned a Top 20 pre-season ranking as much as some other teams. I know our offense will struggle - at least in the early season, but I think our defense will be top-notch.

On another note, I think Matt should play in the Senior Bowl - Tom Condon is a strange agent in many ways. Do you think he did a good job for Brady Quinn last year?

For as much as we might not deserve a top 20 pre-season ranking this year we have been overlooked so many times over the past 5 years in the same polls. It will be very interesting to see if this opinion is shared in the media.

Still, I can't believe we are ranked ahead of Clemson. They have 19 returning starters

I agree with Scout. Barring the unforeseen (more academic problems, injuries, whatever), next year's defense should be outstanding, and I think the offense has the potential to be better (although it will look VERY different IMO).

They say defense wins championships. Our defense next year should give us a shot to at least be in the conversation.

Just wish our 2007 record was as good as Scout thought it was...

That's how these things work. I DID think we were going to be a top 20 team this year, and we started outside the top 25. I'm less confident about next year and yet we see this. Hey, I just hope these guys are onto something.

Who else thinks that sport has gone too far? I mean there is so much money involved in sport now that there is very little sport left anymore. Sport spread betting used to be frowned upon when I was a kid as it made people desperate for money to bet with but now it’s nothing compared to how disgraceful a footballer’s salary is! These people train a few times a week and play one game a week if they’re lucky and get paid a week more than I earn a year! And yet no authority has ever questioned it! Why!? There’s a minimum wage, why can’t there be a maximum wage as well based on the type of job? So all you betters out there, why don’t you start spread betting on how much players are going to be paid next instead of what used to be sport?
