Beanpot back where it belongs
The final 10 minutes of the third period were a disaster. Yet the crisis was averted. BC dominated OT and won the Beanpot with a goal by Nick Petrecki. Congrats to the seniors who add another accomplishment to their resumes. Next up -- the Hockey East championship!
College Hockey is about as exciting as it gets - congratulations to our team for winning the Beanpot. Fantastic - and I hope it bodes well for the rest of the season and into the playoffs.
Did anyone see this article about Notre Dame - UCONN?
Great link BJK. You can't help but wonder if at some point ND made a similar prop to Gene D. If so, he must've told them to stick it. At least I hope so. It is amazing how the Big East and Big Ten allow ND to pick and choose the team conference memberships and rivalry football games it needs while hoarding the tv cash. Why doesn't the Big Ten just freeze ND out unless they want to be the 12th member? UM and State could find another game. I guess the trick would be explaining to the fans.
That's pretty disgusting. What if BC negotiates a long-term contract with UCONN instead just to spite ND? Maybe BC kids could make the trip to Foxborough and cheer for UCONN in Superfan gear. This is just ridiculous. This will make hearing any ND grad go on and on about "tradition" even worse. It's all about $ now.
Brett, I am not concerned about ND or UConn. The Irish wanted a similar lopsided deal with us and we walked. If UConn wants to give up home games just to play Notre Dame, then let them. Both schools look worse because of it.
I hope that Muse just had an off night last night. He looked terrible. Two, if not three, of Harvard's goals were gimmes. Muse flat-out whiffed with his glove easy and unobstructed shots. He also has a very bad habit of rebounding saves right back in front of him, rather than deflecting them to the side. That's going to catch up with BC in a bad way if it continues.
Eagle1, it was an off night for Muse. He has been awesome at times this year, especially for someone who wasn't even supposed to be in college for another year. The second regular season BU game at Conte was a big night for him. BC had no business being in the game and he earned us a tie almost singlehandedly. Last night was an ugly game all around and I think he will immediately put it behind him. (If BC had lost, however, it probably would have been with him all year).
The ND-UCONN series deal is, obviously, extremely slanted toward Notre Dame. I'd be interested in hearing if there were any negotiation attempts on the part of UCONN.
And I would also like to know if any guns were held to the collective head of the UCONN athletic department. Last time I checked, when you're in discussion with another university for a series deal, both parties at the end of the day have to say yes.

Way to go Eagles!! Especially impressive considering they almost gave it away towards the end of the third period.
Thanks to Kyla for organizing the ATL BC club gathering.
Does BC have enough to get over the Frozen Four hump?......
