Questions facing BC and other links

No BC coverage from the Globe or Herald this morning. Terrible. Thankfully a paper in Georgia can take the time to write a BC article.

Jags moved practice to the turf on Tuesday.

HD seems to be hedging in her assessment of BC. All the responses here are fairly positive, yet earlier in the week she pegged BC for 8th in the conference and harped on Ryan and TOB. If you want to talk ACC Football with her, ESPN is having a Dinich chat at noon ET on Wednesday.

The trial of the trooper involved in the Cherilus fight is becoming a he said, he said.

I think you should stop linking to ESPN and HD. Don't give them the time of day. I have to tell you I watched practice yesterday and we look good. These National Media "Experts" are so clueless its sad. They're worse the weathermen. They simply guess or pick they're top teams based on name recognition. I can't believe that ESPN has Fresno State ranked above us. ITS A JOKE. PRESEASON RANKING ARE A JOKE and so is ESPN. Don't link to them. BC is Tampa bound no doubt!

One thing to keep in mind, Haden and the newest members of the O-line are going up against one of best D lines in the country every day in practice. That should help in the transition from HS to college.

Personally, I don't think it means disrespect to the college, players, or fans to rank us 8th. When making a list, someone has to be 8th. Someone has to be 12th.

Even though its easy to consider Clemson & Va Tech as the top 2 teams, they have so many question marks. I have little faith in them making a big splash, even if they finish atop their divisions. Conversely, the middle-pack is really about 11 teams deep. I think the 11th place ACC team is great, and the 1st place team stinks. Makes no sense, but its another year of all really good teams (BC, Wake, Clemson, FSU, VT) no great teams.

1a. Clemson
1b. BC
1c. Wake
3a. FSU
3b. Maryland
5. NC State

3. Va Tech
4a. Miami
4b. UNC
5a. GT
5b. UVA
6. Duke

I know that makes no sense, but it does.

As I think I may have said before, the winner of the Atlantic Division could be 5 wins and 3 losses - maybe 6 and 2. I don't think we'll see 7 and 1 or 8 and 0. I agree with Erik in terms of the competition being very tight and I hope BC can capitalize on the closeness of the race to the ACC CG. Vincent - hope to see you in Tampa - thanks for the report from practice. I'll be sitting on the 50 yard line for the Clemson game. Wouldn't it be sweet to make it 4 straight?

I like Erik's observations on evaluating the potential for ESPN College Gameday to be at the Heights on Nov 1.

Clemson is the favorite in the ACC.

Boston College is the defending Atlantic Champion

All games in the series have been close and exciting.

BC could be 7-0 or 6-1 realistically. Toughest game to date on the sched is Va Tech. 2nd toughest is UNC. ( BJK note - 5 and 2 would not be fatal; 6 and 1 would be great and 7 and 0 fantastic and mind-boggling)

Clemson could also be 7-0 or 6-1. Toughest game to date on the sched is Wake Forest. 2nd toughest is Alabama.

HD with the TOB line earned Summa Clueless status.

BC is historically under rated while Clemson, FSU and Miami are in the top ten over rated football programs. BC would be better off with at least a fair rating and under rating is a negative.

It is not unreasonable to request to stop linking the clueless HD blog site to the not clueless site.

Atleagle for the record I do not see a softening in HD's 123 post. You are trying to sell three quarter empty as half full.

HD is proving to be completely clueless when it comes to BC. In her ACC coaches ranking she's got Jags at 11.

I know you're a big fan of hers Atl, but seriously she's gotta do a little more homework...

i agree with spags. sure TOB has won 8 straight bowl games, but I do believe they weren't invited to one last year.

Definitely better to be underrated than overrated.

Jack, Erik, as much as I would like gameday on Nov 1. I can't see them not going to the worlds biggest cocktail party, not to mention it is in Jacksonville, thus they will have not been there already this season.

Also, I think the Jags ranking is fair if she is going based completely off body of work, he just hasn't had enough games under his belt, thats all.

Also, regarding HD, not sure if you guys saw the chat, but she claimed that having Maryland at home was a bigger game for Clemson then BC on the road, her answer being something about 2 years ago winning on a last second field goal to win...not exactly sure what that has to do with anything but its reeks of her UM bias

I will qualify benefit of being over rated versus under rated. If you are not ranked because you are under rated it hurts you since it keeps you out of the national buzz. Just as if you are over rated to be ranked it is good since you are in the buzz. If you are over rated and ranked 8th instead of 18 you might be better off at 18. BC is not helped by being consistently under rated.

Andrew - you're right. How could I forget the World's Biggest OUTDOOR Cocktail Party? Personally, I couldn't care less if College GameDay is on campus, but I'm sure many other fans would like to see it. Wonder how BC would handle the tailgating policy if such a thing happened?

Regardless, BC-Clemson has the potential to be a huge game this year if we can stay focused on our business leading into November.

I pray that there will be no serious injuries this year like last year.
