Maybe I'm being too optimistic but if you're in Boyd's shoes, I don't see either Ohio St. or Oregon having an advantage over BC in terms of his pro prospects.
At Ohio State he'd have to sit behind Pryor for 2 years, possibly 3. He'd probably redshirt his first year, waste the next year as a backup. Once he does get the opportunity, he's not going to be the only top tier QB recruit on the roster. If he's a superstar right away, great, but there is a lot more pressure there and a fairly quick hook. They've already proven that they're willing to make an upperclassmen QB who has been very successful split time or be benched if someone else promising arrives on campus. Lets say Ohio St. had Matt Ryan coming of a good, but not great junior season. Imagine the different path his life might have taken if he had to split time with someone like Pryor. The same thing happened with Brady and Henson at Michigan. Why would you want to go to a program that has this practice? Obviously there are lots of other reasons to prefer Ohio St., but if he cares about draft status and $$, which he should, I think BC has the advantage.
I don't know as much about Oregon's program, but I think of Joey Harrington and Akili Smith, not exactly the posterboys of NFL success like Ryan is right now.
At BC he could be a 3 to 4 year starter, never have to look over his shoulder, put up huge numbers, still be on tv a lot, benefit from Ryan's success in the pros, play with a stud RB and behind an offensive line that is annually good to great.
Regarding the pre-preseason prediction, how can we avoid giggling? When will the writers ever clue in? BC has won 9 or more games a year for the last 5 years, and yet every one of those years they've been disregarded in the preseason. Maybe they won't win the Atlantic, maybe they'll slip a bit, but last place for this program is as big a stretch right now as saying Duke will win the Coastal.
I think Duke will have a better record than BC next year. Thats not an insult to the Eagles I just think Duke is going to be much better under David C next year.
