BC loses out on Odom and other links

Rod Odom, who is one of the better plays in Massachusetts this year, is headed out west to play for Arizona. Skinner and Co are still in the mix for a few other recruits and will probably need a third body for this class.

John Loughery's son and Matt Ryan's cousin is a JR QB at Matt's high school. He seems to have the prototype pocket passer build. It will be interesting to see if and how hard BC recruits him.

This notebook update's Ugo Okpara. He's left the team to focus on school and plans to be premed. In an ideal world your 4-star recruits turn into four-star players, but this sort of story is not a bad ending. If he's not going to see playing time he might as well make the most of his BC education. I wish him the best of luck.

HD predicted another BC loss. Does anyone track her picks?

Kuechly day in the media with these two stories (1 and 2).

The team continues to use Andre Ware's infamous quote as motivation.

Here is a decent preview of our team from a Virginia Tech perspective.

Did anyone else realize that Derrick Rossy was going to fight Evander Holyfield in Korea? The fight just recently fell apart.

Uh, Marcellus, weren't you there in Jacksonville with Matt Ryan????

“We’ve always been supposed to be rebuilding,’’ Bowman said. “My freshman year, when Mathias [Kiwanuka] left: ‘How are they supposed to get a pass rush?’ We had somebody for that. Then a couple years later: ‘Matt Ryan? How are you going to replace him?’ Then we went to the ACC championship game, which we never did with Matt Ryan. Then after [Chris] Crane left: ‘Who’s going to be the quarterback?’

The author of the article wasn't trying to embarrass Bowman, it was just a bit of laziness on his part not to fact-check. From the reader comments:

Hi everyone. First off, I'm definitely sorry for leaving that line from Bowden in. It's something that could have easily been double checked an I didn't, which is just awful on my part. I feel worse for leaving him hanging like that. He's a great player and he was just as great to talk to, so I definitely could have looked out for him. I can't say that I won't make a mistake again, but I'll definitely make sure to keep them to a minimum. You all deserve the best from the Globe and we have to deliver.

Honest mistake. Though, it doesn't do his reputation much credit when, even in his apology, he writes "Bowden" instead of "Bowman"...

And then he later fixed it in the comments shortly after. Whatever, no biggie.
