Yeah, that was a great throw from Dave. Credit where it's due. However, did you see how Larmond tried to catch that? With his elbows and his chest pads. Colin, you know those things at the ends of your arms? Yes, they're called hands! You catch with those, with your hands!
The play before the Larmond drop, there were two open receivers streaking across the middle. If that was Matt Ryan he would've hit both kinda like a double jump in checkers.
Larmond dropped that one...it's not on Shin. But now I'm sad, because we can help the opposition with inept play...and need some serious Keuchly, SCAFE and Newman interface and Bowman needs to hurt some people in a big way...or I will be impossible to be around for the rest of the week... Wow, we really are inconsistent...
By the way, I hate when clearly incorrect moves are rewarded. Spaz and Tranq should never have run the ball up the middle three consecutive times in that situation. This will just encourage both to do the same in a more crucial situation later on.
El Sid hasn't made a FG like that in a gozillion years!! But do we sucjk in this game, opr what??? Thank God no one is home in my house today so my kids didn't hear me screaming. Go Eagles!! Beat dem Terps!!
I know everyone is frustrated by the close game that should have been a blow-out, but at least they have 8 wins in what was forecasted to be a down year.
Not sure I like the match-up against Stanford. That Gerheart is something else.
I reiterate--Larmond and Keuchly and Montel are THE MEN--with a bunch of other Eagles (Gunny, Scafe, Newman, Bowman, and Sid--and many mo') who really rocked!!! It's Margarita Time!!! Go Eagles!!!! GO BC!!!!
See y'all in SF in the Emerald Bowl!!! Looks like Stanford vs. BC!!
Damn those pundits!! BC is 8-4... g'night Charlie--ND vs. Stanford?? Not bloody likely, mate!
wow. a resounding victory over a ferocious terp team will send shockwaves throught the college football landscape.
could we have more conservative coaches? oh wait, where's pat buchanan when you need him?
boyd gets the gold star for post of the day...these teams deserve these announcers. truer words were never spoken.
san fran...here we come...
seriously, as average as we are as an 8-win team...it'd be really cool to play Stanford this year. maybe not any other year. but this year...esp. if they beat ND tonight.
can't wait to hear the polyannas talk about this win...man, does the acc kinda suck or what?
gentlemen, it's been fun cyber drinking with all of you this afternoon.
we can rest easy knowing eagleboston predicted a glorious bc win today.
congrats to spaz and the staff for another 8-win season. though too conservative, and often ugly to watch, they made chicken salad out of...something, and we found two HUGE stars in the process.
here's to montel and luke...this heineken is for you...
Once again, even in victory, mod is being a dick to everyone who does not partake his pie in the sky routine. EB is "dickish" because he claims that BC could be the worst 8 win team in college football? Let me ask you mod, what other 8 win teams are worse than BC?
Oh, hell, BravesB--there's lots of teams with 9 or 10 wins that are worse than BC. Mod must know this...--Imagine Boise in Boston--they'd have hemmroids(sic) just trying to make anyone happy in Brighton and no one in BackBay would tolerate the Blue Gridiron. Tebow and Florida would be pissed off that some dudes in the pros in Boston were mo' loved than they, and the Texas kids couldn't graduate from ANYWHERE in MA....'n Half the Alabama team would be busted for traffic violations jus' tryin' to get to the dorms in Cambridge. They'd win no more 'n 7 games tops in that kinda environment.
So--We should all be damn glad we're in the Emerald Bowl representing the ACC and NOT the Big Least--Y'all haven't lived if you haven't bowl'd in San Francisco--I can't think of another town I'd rather party in, and this year, if our opponent is Stanford--we'll actually be able to hang with these folks without having to fake an accent, or sound like we knew Lou Holtz as children. It'll be fun and everybody you'll meet actually graduated from the university that they're rooting for... C'mon--Don't that sound like fun?
But ending the year on a (sort of) high note is nice.
1.) 8 wins means we didn't need the two wins against the D1AA teams to become bowl eligible.
2.) Yes we've heard it all year long from the announcers, but we were supposed to end up last in the ACC. I give Spaz some credit.
Looking to next year... Shinskie showed some promise. He'll be better next year. Keuchley and Herzlich could make an insane defensive duo. I'm Keeping my fingers crossed for Herzy's strength.
NorCal -- thanks for the correction. I was laboring under the incorrect belief that Kent State was an FCS team. They might as well be.
I really do enjoy watching the Cynics vs. the Polyannas on this site. If I had to take sides I'd jump on board with the Cynics, but only because it's obvious that the Cynics criticize out of devotion to The Heights.
On a personal note, as a Bay Area resident, I hate knowing that BC will be playing just a few miles away on Dec. 26 when I'm back home on the East Coast. The last time we played in the Emerald Bowl I literally lived 4 blocks from Pac Bell park. I watched the game in Standard Definition from my parents' house in Maine. The agony.

They're so shocked to see a catchable ball, they don't know what to do.
playing like dog squeeze...
bc makes me drink.
well, that's not entirely true. but they make me drink in a bad mood.
Larmond dropped that one...it's not on Shin.

I'm gonna find this commentator and Jimmy Clausen his ass.
Wow, there are two coaches in this game trying get fired. Fridge must subscribe to Tranquill's newsletter.
KUECHLY!!!
It pains me to say this, but these two teams deserve these announcers.
Kuechly!!!
What a heady play. Glad we get to watc him for (at least) two more seasons!
I think Luke was way offsides on that play, but we'll take it.
Again--Gary-Wan-Kanobi can't bring it on down one! We're so close and so far on every down!!
Gary, time to open the touchdown section of the play-book. I swear it's in there. You used it back in the first quarter. No really, you did.
Good lord. Are you serious? We need points and from here it's a ~45-yarder. Good plan.
A run on 3rd and 9??? Am I on LSD and this Woodstock football?
Holy crap. You can't go ultra-conservative at this point. Watch Apon miss and BC will still only be up 6, after getting the ball inside Maryland's 30!
Wow. Great kick.
Did Sid Vicius bang this guys wife, or what?
It seems like he's having a lot of fun mispronouncing his name. "Say it with me now..."
wow apo. wow.
Snuck on through. Looks like Apon has been working on his leg strength. He never would have made that last year.
Rushing attempts do not predict victory. Sorry guys. It's all bout turnover differential and yards per play. Science.
After this game, Harris might not wake up in time for the bowl.

Let's get ready for some prevent D!
WOOOOOOO!!!
anyone have any idea how many tackle Kuechly has?
Terrible D on that 4th down. Even though it's prevent time, you still have to cover and tackle.
Goddamn it McGovern. Effing prevent with THREE linebackers on the field. Inexcusable.
How does a man get behind the BC defense in a prevent defense?
Wait, isn't the point of Prevent to not let that happen? I'm confused.
Only this hapless ensemble could screw this up and give THE WORST TEAM in MD historym a chance to make it close...
That's what happens when you rush 3 and then have your linebackers 3 yards beyond the first down marker.
This is just not a good BC football team. If we sneak this out, we may be the worst 8-win team in America.
Ha. Larmond is on the hands team. Is Spaz on crack or something?
Thank god for Larmond. Steve and Colin really bailed out the coaches today. Victory formation, I guess. Extremely unsatisfying win, on the whole.
Well, a W is a W....They should have challenged that spot on the
4th down play..whatever...
I know everyone is frustrated by the close game that should have been a blow-out, but at least they have 8 wins in what was forecasted to be a down year.

Paulo, we only played one FCS team (Northeastern), which is not to excuse our non-conference schedule. Our NC opponents were not good.
