You say "once our UNH crew has a bigger influence on our play calling"
do we have a UNH crew? Was there a wink there that I missed? Or is this a hope? Or a prediction?
Mod -
Dawson was an assistant at UNH before Akron (DC and LBs Coach)
Day was a QB at UNH and TE coach
Devine was the OC his last 2 years at UNH and was a position coach all over the field
Think he was referencing some of our offensive coaches not named Tranquill because a few stopped at UNH on their way to us.
Eagle1331 & Dan -- ahh.. thanks... actually, I was hoping ATl was "in the know" that the next Chip Kelley in waiting was at UNH and was going to be our next OC. Rettig seems fairly fleet-a-foot (i think he is faster tahn the 4.8 I've seen listed for him) and maybe could run the BC version of the spread -- "The Eagle??"
Wouldn't something along those lines be nice!
FYI, Dudley just signed a $22.5 million, 5 year contract w/ the Suns. Good to see hard work get rewarded. Who says a chubby, undersized kid with hardly any scholarship offers out of high school can't make it in the NBA?
Meanwhile - we have 4 games to play. Each game is winnable, but we can't take any of them for granted - not even Wake. With our limitations on offense due to unimaginative play-calling, each game is losable as well.
Duke and Wake hopefully = wins = 5 and 5.
I'll be at the Virginia game, and will remember they lost to USC out there by 3 points. I think we can win that game regardless of their up and down performances, although no guarantee.
6 wins 5 losses potentially, heading up to Syracuse. I view the Orange as our rival - I hate playing them in the Carrier Dome, and I hope our team understands what is at stake.
Unfortunately, Syracuse has thumped us pretty well in 03 and 04. They have been bad ever since, except now Marrone has them on the right road back. It's amazing what bad coaching hires will do for a program.
I hope our coaches can get our team prepared properly for this ACC/Big East matchup. They are currently 6 and 2 and ATL has them ranked in the Top 25.
A loss to Syracuse will leave a very bad taste in my mouth, and render us ineligible for a bowl game at 6 and 6 - with one win over Weber State. We shouldn't qualify and shouldn't accept, etc.
We should accept Nyquil's resignation for sure.
Yep, Nyquil's gotta go. After Sunday's win, though, I have hope Spaz can be the answer for us with some better OC on board. good to see shots of him being emotional in ways other than close to tears.
If we win out, it'll be the most psyched I'll have been for a mediocre bowl game ever - would be a great way to salvage the season for Herzlich et al.
BJK--BC would still be bowl eligible at 6-6:
"Under current regulations, in order for this to occur, a team must have at least 6 wins, which may include one win against a Division I FCS scholarship-awarding[1] opponent, or win their conference, and the team must not be on probation. The NCAA allows one victory per season over a Division I FCS (formerly I-AA) team to count toward an FBS team's bowl eligibility, so long as the FCS team has supplied financial aid for football averaging out to at least 56.7 full scholarships (90% of the limit of 63 allowed to FCS schools) over "a rolling two-year period" that can include the current season."
Bravesbill - thank you - we'd get it by the skin of our teeth, but I would much rather go into one with a victory over Syracuse and 5 wins in a row to balance out the 5 losses. If we go 6 and 6 with a loss to Syracuse - I feel we would have "backed into" a bowl.
Let's go BC - REFUSE TO LOSE.
My Clemson friends still can't figure out how they lost to us - and I just remind them - the same way you have lost to us for 4 out of 6 :-)
