We are days away from the NFL Draft and Mike Mamula is nowhere to be found. Usually this time of year articles and blogposts are filled with references to the former Combine wunderkind. In many of these posts, he is wrongly labeled as a bust and as someone who only got drafted because of his NFL Combine performance. As any BC fan knows, neither is the case. Mamula's final college season was dominant. He was going to be a first day draft pick before the Combine. The great workout only elevated him that much more.
I don't know why there are fewer stories this year. My Bing alert only mentions him six times in the last seven days. Maybe writers are moving on. Or perhaps there are just new targets. Either way, I hope he starts getting the credit he finally deserves for both his college and NFL career.

I watched the bowl game against a very good Kansas St squad. Mamula dominated and BC won. He left after his junior year. He played well in the NFL but not great.
I think most of the sports writers pegged him as a third or fourth rounder in the absence of his remarkable combine performance. Most also acknowledge that he was a decent but undersized NFL defensive end who had a lot of bad luck with injuries and who should have been playing linebacker at 250 pounds. In college - he was just an explosive player who was at another level athletically.
So was reminding the "sports writer" world a good idea?
"My Bing alert only mentions him six times in the last seven days."
Maybe there's a simpler reason...
Thursday is the NFL draft. Hope Patcham,AW and KPL get picked early. They deserve it. 2. Kiper recently noted how many Alabama guys have been flops in the NFL. High draft picks who disappointed. Baxter posted a story about the worst pick in franchise history for each NFL team. It turns out that one conference produced nine of the worst. It was the SEC ( Schuler, McCants, Anderson, Lafleur, Nash, Harvey, Avery, Williamson and Russell). So the claim that the SEC is the dominant conference may be true if one is only looking in the category of busts in the NFL. 3. It will be debated for decades into the future who was the better college football player, Crazy legs Hirsch or Crab legs Winston. 4. The Mamula story was always bogus. He had an average NFL career including 31 sacks. It was a media invention to discredit BC. Take what the media says for what it is worth. As Stoops says about the SEC don't fall for the propaganda.

#3 hilarious. Keep me coming. Another addition to the Criminole pantheon.
The facility's new Internet hour must be 9-10am.
Anyone who believes the 9:49 tripe belongs in the same facility.
