Basketball loses to UMass-Lowell (This is not a joke)

Remember that idiot BC blogger (from Atlanta) who thought this basketball team would have a good non-conference run? Once again, I couldn't have been more wrong. On Sunday, BC lost to UMass-Lowell. Although key players were injured or missing due to various ailments, there is no reason to lose to UMass-Lowell. They are young. They are small. They are a bad team from a low-major conference. They've only been playing at this level for a few years. This was a terrible loss for BC. It makes me question everything and hopefully is making Christian question everything.

The biggest problem remains the defense on the perimeter. Christian showed that he could coach D last season. Where is that this year? The guys are young, but they are making the same mistakes over and over.

If you're looking for silver linings, Reyes played well in extended minutes and the Hicks also made the most of his shots.

Congrats to former BC assistant Pat Duquette on the victory.

As for BC, I have no idea where we go from here. This team is not great, but they are more talented than this. Christian needs to wake them up and coach them up soon.

definitely a strange loss. to be up 10 with 7 minutes to play and lose to UML at home is pathetic, regardless of the various ailments (Clifford missed game due to food poisoning, JROB and a few others also played through it but didn't really look ok, ELI rolled an ankle in warmups) affecting the team.

hopefully when we are replacing Xian we have a new AD and Batesy isn't scrolling through his MAC rolodex for another bargain-bin coach. i bet BC gives Xian this season and another 2 before canning him.

Every time we come up against a zone defense, we look like a "..deer in the headlights...". Perhaps because we don't play zone much, we aren't used to going against it in practice. We certainly can't seem to solve any zone we've seen so far this season.

Detroit Free Press still has BB as a front runner as of 12/3, and note UM has long been known to be BB's 'dream job" (did he tell Leo of his dream job before coming to to BC??) no wonder BB likes Daz -- both playing the soft jesuits

"Brad Bates

Current job: Boston College AD.

Tie to Michigan: From Port Huron. Walk-on defensive back who played for Schembechler. Has a bachelor’s and a master’s in education from Michigan. Took over at BC in 2012, after 10 years leading Miami (Ohio). He has shown a strong educational focus, as BC ranked fifth nationally in Graduation Success Rate in 2013-14. Replaced Gene DeFilippo at BC; DeFilippo is part of the Turnkey firm assisting U-M with this search. U-M long believed to be his dream job.

Why it wouldn’t work: May be comfortable working a private school in a major city."

UMass-Lowell has been a D-1 school for 3 years and played its 3rd road game in 4 days....and BC still lost.

Lowest point ever in our history?

Has to be close...

Is BC serious about competing and winning or is it just pretending? BC owes its students, alumni and fans an answer to that question. And if the answer is yes, then what is being done to achieve success?

Anyone ever wonder - if BC is willing to sink to such depths in one of the more visible programs for the University, what other areas are equally messed up and no one is paying any attention?

Another unbelievable low point. We are all running out of words. Maybe they won't win a single ACC game and duplicate football. When does the ACC start to wonder what's going on here? Do you think anybody up at BC gives a damn?

It may be time for this publication and similar others to focus on one thing: what changes need to be made at BC top to bottom. Otherwise, there may be very little to talk about pretty soon for these publications. We are all losing interest.

Nappy

I was wondering if a power 5 school ever went oh for in both revenue sports in the same year.

Nothing like going from having football and basketball in the top 5 in the same academic year to being the laughingstock of college athletics in a span of 8 years.

While I'm not not happy about the season so far, and am still on the fence about Christian, to be fair about this game, it looks like 8 of the players have E. Coli poisoning. Might explain yesterday's game a bit.

I'm going with the E. Coli excuse, because anything else is too depressing to contemplate (not that an E. Coli infection isn't depressing for those who have it...)

Get well soon guys.
