Indiana DB Ben Stewart verballed to BC Saturday. Depending on his growth, he could end up as a LB at BC. What I like about the signing is that Stewart comes from Cathedral in Indianapolis. That is the alma mater of Kiwanuka and Trueblood. Our track record at Midwest Catholic schools is good and we need to be getting more recruits from certain schools.
Stewart has a mix of offers from MAC schools and lower level Big Ten schools. He will probably get more offers now that BC is involved. Since spring is so critical to Addazio's recruiting, I think more verbals will follow.

Stewy doesn't miss tackles, laterally reels-in RBs in with speed and anticipation. Reminiscent of a Midwest LB from 2009-11.
He had some good offers from decent programs like Iowa, Michigan State and Cincinnati. Not a bad pick up at all. I also like getting any kid from big urban area Catholic high schools with middle class kids who played against good competition. Just my bias - as opposed to wealthy ISL kids or kids from affluent tiny schools who played other affluent tiny schools. Getting both Kiwi and Trueblood that year was a super recruiting job. Does anyone recall which BC assistant reeled in both of those kids?
I agree about recruiting at the Catholic Schools. Dowling Catholic has won 3 straight state titles and BC is nowhere to be found. Instead the players are going to Michigan, Notre Dame and Iowa. We need to be playing in the Catholic school space.
Completely agree re: Catholic schools. Our local, academically rigorous Catholic High School (in the state where football is king and the city where the Senior Bowl is played) is the current state football (and basketball) champ. The school has also had top students accepted by and attend BC. I don't think BC has them on the radar at all.
Oh, toss out that Iowa offer cause it's inconvenient. That makes sense
agreed Addazio's recruiting has left much to be desired. he came in with the rep of a guy who landed 4* and 5*'s at UF. Hilliman, Landry, Outlow are the only guys I can think of that he's landed at BC (mod conveniently "forgets" that we landed those guys) who fit that label. Hilliman was a 4* recruit, Landry and Outlow i believe were 3/4 depending on what site, but had big time offers from programs and we got them. Outlow was a bust, Hilliman and Landry were not. we didn't land Christian Wilkins which still bugs me, we lost Harrington to Stanford, can't think of many other high profile NE guys that we were in on. i would like to see the staff go for bigger targets, but then again i do realize that we had a historically bad season and play in front of 34k fans every week in a school that makes you go to class. its no surprise someone wants to go to Clemson instead of that.
that said, this kid's tape looks superb and he's from a good high school. so why are we complaining?
good get for BC.
Dixie and eagle boston - nothing wrong with getting any good kid from anywhere but the first priority of our limited resources assigned to recruiting research and relationship building ought to be with the large Catholic football powers east of the Mississippi. Daz and staff ought to be (over time) on a first name basis with the coaches from those schools. And they ought to find a way to bring those coaches for an annual visit to BC. On top of that - we need to influence the parents of those kids to be favorably impressed with BC. Remember that these were parents (usually of limited means) who sacrificed to send their kids to RC schools. If I were Daz - I'd look hard to see if there is a personable Jesuit or two on campus with an interest in helping sell the program to targeted RC kids and their families. As with most things - a little extra effort pays dividends.
El Miz - To say that Outlow was a "Bust" is totally unfair . The kid was never given a fair chance to carry the ball. Look at his statistics - I believe that he averaged 4.1 yards per carry in 2014 and 4.5 yards per carry in 2015. However, on average he carried the ball a little over 4 times a game. That is why he left BC - MAYBE ??? Regarding recruiting , Addazio implied at the Gridiron Meeting that getting a 4 or 5 star recruit is not a realistic goal for BC. WITH THAT ATTITUDE, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT??? MEDIOCRITY HAS BEEN THE MANTRA AT BOSTON COLLEGE FOR TOO LONG IN FOOTBALL. And MIZ - not really a big deal ,but we only averaged 30k fans last year - not 34k. And this year maybe even lower with the great schedule.
Napoleon - I know that they recruit in the Atlanta area; hop one state over (an hour's flight) and take a look at McGill-Toolen, a Catholic school powerhouse (if a more recent one) that has already sent top students to BC. (And it's east of the Mississippi...)
They could even hit Pensacola Catholic H.S. on the same trip.
dixie - it has to become a priority and a focus. It would seem just two schools have an advantage with these kids and BC is one of them. My guess is that they believe we don't have any significant advantage recruiting at RC high schools. Maybe that has been their experience.
I guess aside from the fact that everything you say is dead wrong and is only based on your anti-Addazio agenda, how do you seriously expect BC to compete with Clemson for recruits ? In all honesty. All you do is whine and complain, but give me one reason a kid in HS, who wants to play in the NFL, is going to BC. The university has made sure that facilities won't play into that. The kind of kids that Clemson gets, dont care about academics. Tell me, what's the selling point ? More often than not (of course there will be fliers), kids Addazio pulls have other P5 offers (including the ACC offers you claim he can't recruit against, just go back and look). Again, I'm sure you won't because it will prove your agenda wrong. If your too stupid to realize what Addazio is selling AGAINST at every turn (schools with better facilities, better academics) then you don't have a realistic view of the recruiting environment.
It's March. Each kid that has committed has had at least a P5 offer (with exception of Lawson who is from generally under recruited area). I'm sure since all you do is read rivals, your tune will change when other schools offer, but whatever helps you push your agenda, don't bother to look at facts (i.e. your incessant BS ranting on the OL).
