BC land Mass QB

Addazio filled an important slot in his 2017 recruiting class with Massachusetts QB EJ Perry. Perry is the son of Andover High School's coach. Rivals considers him the 5th best prospect in the state. Nationally his rating is not as high.

Perry's commitment sparked the usual debate about the quality of Massachusetts prospects. Other schools have shown interest in him, but BC is his only Power 5 offer. I am still in the trusting Addazio mindset on local talent. The program knows Perry and if Loeffler is now on board with him, then I am sold too.

There haven't been many impact Massachusetts QBs in a long time. Let's hope Perry breaks that streak.

The link lists him as 6'2" and 190 as a junior. Commitment is one thing and signing is another. You cannot teach height. This type of offense needs height. Flutie, Fadule, and for that matter Wade do not have the height. The 6'4" Kizer at Notre Dame has evidently run off the 6 foot Zaire. Towles will do the same to Wade. The option is one thing. A pro style is another. If Addazio wants a black quarterback, then he should see if Kizer has a younger brother. Matt Ryan was successful at BC for a reason. He had the talent yes. However, he also had the height at the Heights.

Scott Loeffler beat the 2014 National Champions with a 6'1 QB

I'm pretty sure that the best BC QB ever had zero height.

And remember, this kid still has his HS senior year to go. He may blossom.

We've had some great short guys at BC especially in hockey (Gerbe, Atkinson, Gaudreau to name a few), a legendary short guy in football with abnormally large hands, and some great short guys in hoops such as Adams, Rice and Bell (i.e., short for the sport).

Then we had a weeping Athletic Director who gave everyone a bad name - including me:

Short people got no reason
To live

They got little hands
And little eyes
And they walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet

They got little baby legs
And they stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no short people
'round here

Taking someone more developmental a year after Brown (and being in really good shape with some '18s) isn't the end of the world.

Obviously all the Mike Farrell/rivals lemmings like mod are going to get their panties in a wad over the Perry commitment, but just take a step back and look at the QB situation from on a whole.

It is quite obvious that Addazio is a genius when recruiting for Quarterbacks - so this latest commitment only indicates a solid situation at QB for years to come. On a more serious note , is it possible to get AN ACCURATE UP-TO- DATE report on the height and weight of the current roster. For instance , Lindstrom is still listed at 260 lbs. - obviously , that can not be factual. There is nothing in my research to show information other than the last year's data . It should be about time for BC to update this player profile information.

Napoleon,

I hated that song! I was in 4th grade and was one of the shortest kids in my class and the tall kids used to come and sing it right in my face. Fortunately, I grew to be 6 feet tall and as I approach 50, most of my classmates seem to be shrinking. Still, I will never make fun of someone for their height and it is one of the reasons I am a huge Flutie fan.

With our recent switch to a pro-set offense, we only have 2 QBs (Wade & Brown) with the requisite passing skills.

To restock the position, we'll need to recruit 2 QBs this year and atleast one more QB next year. Perry is the unheralded, long-term project, that won't scare off bigger names like Chase, and many others we are pursing. It's nearly impossible fr a team like BC (who us selling playing time) to recruit 2 big name QBs in the same class, particular with Wade & Brown are expecting to win the job next year. So I consider this free pass, and worthwhile risk if he has the measurables to develop into the position in 3+ years.

Fortunately, the scholarships on Robinson & Smith we're not wasted by switching away for the option offense. In fact, giving them a shot was our only chance to sign guys that the factories were recruiting for WR & DB. They are instant upgrades to our skill & speed positions ... Which gives us room to restock. QB
