ACC Network not dead yet

With cord cutting and ESPN killing Disney's stock, the ACC Network has never felt further away. Yet Awful Announcing read through the ACC Meeting tea leaves and thinks the project may still be viable.

Although the specialty networks have been money drains for ESPN, my guess is they are still willing to do them just to ensure a long-term relationship with the ACC. Look at what is happening with the Big Ten. They have their own network independent of ESPN and are now looking for another blockbuster TV deal. I am sure that as ESPN and Disney decide how to budget their rights deals, they would rather have a true partnership (with equity) with the ACC than overpay to lose money on a Big Ten deal.

Awful Announcing referenced the impatient ACC Athletic Directors. I am sure that is a factor, but the bigger factor is ESPN stopping the cord cutting. Once they have that figured out, then they can move onto creating the ACC Network.

You're probably right on this. Borden is trying to push expansion and a Big 12 network, so why not us. Live sports is really the main weapon providers have in the cc war.

Quite frankly, none of this will matter until we get people who see the big picture in the administration. BC has been so cheap and athletics has been horribly underfunded even win the current ACC payout, what will a few more million really do. Cut the sports offering in half and allocate the money properly, allowing the remaining athletes to realistically compete nationally, bottom line.

Details today out of USA Today detail the salary of Brian Kelly. His base salary is 995,000.00 with added bonuses of 452,000.00. The issue had to do with continued payments for Charlie Weiss and his being the third highest paid employee of ND for 2014. Weiss received 6.6 million in 2009 as part of a severance agreement. Subsequently from 2010-2014, Weiss received 10.5 million. Obviously, this compares strangely with the payment structure for Addazio. Addazio has a base salary of 2.6 million which will now go for a total of 8 years. If he receives bonuses with the 150,000.00 for a personal loan as an example, then this is a "strange" situation. Which program is the more high profile and which coach deserves to be paid more? Why is Addazio being paid three times the salary of Kelly?
