Christian lands big recruit

The day after picking up its first win of the season, Jim Christian had an off the court victory too. Highly-rated Euro player verballed to BC on Twitter Wednesday. Even before Kraljevic gets on campus, it seems like Christian has collected a good amount of talent. Now he just needs them to compete and look good in every game.

highly rated? i can't find anything on him. averaged 4 pts 3 reb in the FIBA U20 tournament.

we have 3 seniors this year (Owens and the 2 subpar transfers) and he is our first commit - so 2 other spots to fill and very late in the year. not a good sign.

According to BCI, he had offers from Auburn, DePaul, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Missouri and New Mexico. Not a bad list.

All are pretty weak programs currently. Not that impressive.

Fair, but it looks a lot better than what we are used to around here.

By "Big" I think he meant in stature.

Gonzaga built a hugely successful program by recruiting "bigs" from overseas. This is a step in the right direction.

Unfortunately hints that U.S. prospects want nothing to do with this program right now. That has to change.

By the time this guy graduates the team will still suck.

This guy seems to be the next coming of Patrick Heckmann.

Maybe by "big" recruit you just meant tall. But glad to have him on board anyway. I hope we aren't trending towards a starting 5 someday from Kazakhstan coached by Borat Sagdiyev and his assistant Azamat Bagatov.

Luka was recruited out of the new (2013) Don Bosco Prep Academy in Indiana. The Salesians have gone into the basketball prep school business in a big way. They have students from mostly Illinois and Indiana, with a few from overseas sprinkled in.

Luka is listed a 6'10" as a "4".

The Dons have a "5" who is a legitimate 7 footer with good hands, who can run the court, hit from inside and outside with either hand, and can shoot the 3-pointer. Cucak is his name. He's out of Ontario, by way of a military prep school in VA.

If BC wants to recruit on the cheap, just keep sending somebody out to talk to the Dons.

Article on this recruit. It also has a link to Eurobasket site which ranks him 48 for players his age. That list includes some pro players, and players already in major college programs. Seems like a good get....whether that pans out on the floor at BC, who knows.

Coaching up players and developing them......doesn't happen automatically, and this year will tell whether Christian has that in him.

Better to get 1 or 2 quality recruits than the usual 3 or 4 below average recruits that they often get. There is time for more.

Hopeful that Turner, Robinson, Thompkins, can progress this year, plus adding in a real PG in Ty Graves ....need to get at least a couple ACC wins (4 -5 would be nice) to build confidence and show themselves that they can compete in ACC.

WIth a young core, they have a chance to develop together, and all of the above were decently rated recruits. Still need some size and Would be nice to add an interior / post, particularly needed on the defensive end of the floor. This recruit doesn't sounds like he is not as developed physically and may not be helpful in that regard initially, but still, the roster seems to be trending in the right direction from a talent perspective.
