Hoops win, Hockey loses

Basketball took care of Dartmouth Saturday. Robinson led the way with 27 points. Dartmouth is not a good team, but every win helps. BC was able to control early and never really feel threatened. BC takes on another Ivy League team Wednesday night.

The Men's Hockey team had a huge game Saturday night. They took on North Dakota at Madison Square Garden. BC just had trouble scoring and were behind more most of the game. Even a late surge late in the game wasn't enough. The team has a few days to regroup before Northeastern on Tuesday night.

The team was a bit sloppy early on, but in the second half they really played some incredible defense. There are some clearly talented players on this roster and you can see they are still coming into their own. Look out for #23, Mike Sagay. Between action, the assistant coaches were really focusing on working with him on footwork and approach in certain situations. Just watching him, I can see he has a lot of raw athletic talent.

And Robinson is a beast. He is going to play some solid basketball for this school and is only a sophomore......

I just double checked the roster because I couldn't believe it - they're all freshman and sophomores. Two graduates and one senior. Now those three got pretty big minutes yesterday, but, the rest of these kids are hopefully going to improve and build a nice foundation.

The problem is, are these kids' max talent going to be able to compete against the rest of the ACC? I suppose time will tell.

I think they need one more Robinson-level kid if they're going to make any real noise in the conference. Still--they're improving.

I agree with RC. They need at least one more kid who can hit shots fairly consistently. Looking at what they have outside of Robinson - I'd have to say that Chatman seems to have the most potential as he has a good stroke. He needs more minutes and more confidence - and needs to take more shots. Turner also needs to take more shots - especially layups off the dribble as he has some good burst. Generally, this team is often too tentative about shooting and converging towards the basket. I'd rather lose by missing shots rather than by not taking them.
