BC to face Miami in Super Regionals

BC's next step in the NCAA Baseball Tournament is against an old foe. BC will face fellow ACC member Miami in a best-of-three game Super Regional.

Due to the ACC's expansion, Miami and BC have not played since 2014. The Hurricanes won the College World Series four times, but have not had the same level of championship success since moving to the ACC. Like BC, they were a three seed in their bracket and advanced.

Baseball sweeps regional!

The hottest team in college baseball might be BC! Although only a 3 seed in a four team bracket, BC ran through their whole regional without dropping a game. Sunday they beat Tulane to win the bracket and advance to the Super Regional.

While you could have considered BC a bubble team, their amazing performance in Oxford showed that their bid was well deserved. It was also validation of the season they had. In the past, early exits from the NCAAs raised questions to how good BC actually was. No doubt this season.

Baseball keeps rolling

BC Baseball -- who were knocked out early in the ACC Tournament -- are on the cusp of winning their bracket! Saturday they rallied to beat Utah. Sunday night BC will start Freshman Jacob Stevens against the winner of the loser bracket game between Utah and Tulane. If Stevens and company shuts the opponent down, BC moves on. If not, BC has one more chance on Monday.

BC wins NCAA opener against Tulane

Justin Dunn dominated when BC needed him the most. He struck out 11 and held Tulane to just two runs as BC won 7-2. BC will now face the winner of Ole Miss and Utah.

Considering the pressure and lack of postseason experience on the roster, this was a great start for BC. No one seemed overwhelmed by the stage or the stakes. If they keep it up, they may win their bracket.

Media pays attention to baseball and other links

The silver lining of the weekend in Austin is the extra attention BC baseball is getting. Alums who have never paid attention sat by their computers all weekend to follow the action. Bloggers (including this one) who only give baseball a passing mention took notice. And of course the local and national media took time to recognize the special game and BC's part in it. Although this focuses on Austin Wood, Peter King used a big chunk of his football column to write about the epic game. The Herald focused on BC's run and what it means. The New York Times took note. Aoki told the Globe that this team has raised the bar at BC.

Aoki is also making the media rounds.
[EDITED: The NESN script was breaking the blog. Check out the video on their site.]

The one critique of the weekend was how the relief pitchers were overused on Saturday night.

The Sailing Team won another National Title. This makes back to back wins in this category.

Jayme Parker has a multipart interview with Herzy rolling out each night on NESN. Here is a portion of it.
[Funky NESN embedded code here too. Check out the video on their site.]

BC guy Boog Sciambi spoke to a blog.

BC is recruiting Georgia line prospect Kyle Woestmann.

Dance over

BC lost another close one, going down 4-3 to Army. The game ended on a controversial double play in the top of the ninth. If not for the DP, BC ties the game and has men on 1st and 3rd. Oh well. The second loss means the season is over. But it clearly was one to build on and showed BC could compete in the ACC and take the nations best team to 25 incredible innings.

A win 42 years in the making

Things are never easy for BC fans. First time in the NCAA's in four decades and you'd think things would be easy. Nope. BC's first game was a roller coaster. Tight early, fall behind, big rally and nearly let the game get away in the bottom of the 9th. BC held on to beat Texas State 8-7. BCeagles.com has photos and links. BC takes on top seed Texas on Saturday.

If you missed the game or scrambled to find an internet feed, you can get audio streams from bceagles.com throughout the tournament.
