Watching Donahue coach

These videos have been around for a year, yet I just came across them. If you like watching coaches teach, you'll love the short little insights. The video's also provide a glimpse into Donahue's tone and intensity during practice. These show him working with last year's team. I imagine his style didn't change much with the new squad, but maybe the lessons were pared down a bit.

Behind the Scenes of BC recruiting tour

New Jersey LB Quinton Alston is one of BC's recruiting targets for the 2011 class. He already has an offer in hand and has made an unofficial visit. Fortunately for us, his mother is documenting the process and posted a video of their day at BC. There is music but no speaking so you can't hear what was said, but from the order and the shots you can tell what BC emphasizes. You'll also pick up on how important the GAs are in the process since they are doing a lot of the escorting. Overall, I think Yawkey, Alumni and the campus show pretty well.

A new recruit and other links

Spaz and company landed their highest profile recruit to date in New Jersey WR Shakim Phillips. It's a good sign that we were able to close on a high profile New Jersey recruit. Hopefully this will build momentum for the rest of the recruiting class.

Kent State Eugene Jarvis injured his kidney against BC and will miss the remainder of the season.

The BC Draft guys held a Q&A with Steve Conroy.

Here is the latest video from bceagles.com.

Spaz in the spotlight and other links

Spaz spoke with the media today and seemed to charm folks. He got a few laughs for this Shinskie line:
"The good news is he's 25. The bad news is he can buy beer for the whole team."

The Herald had Conroy at the meetings. Nothing yet from the Globe.

BC did not receive any votes from the ACC media.

Here is Matt Ryan's first national TV commercial.

This VTech writer put together a decent BC preview. The key for me though was his honesty when discussing the Hokies recent losses to BC. Is this now a real rivalry?

Dominique Davis made his destination official. After this one season he can transfer back to a DIA program.

These are some of the things the ACC is doing to improve attendance at the ACC Championship Game.

Quinton Porter's play has put him in the middle of a QB controversy again.

Virginia Tech Rewind

Here is a quick refresher on our last two regular season games against the Hokies. (We'll pretend like the game in Jacksonville never happened.)

Basketball schedule and other links

BC unveiled the men's basketball schedule. Outside of the preseason NIT, it is the usual slate of ACC games, New England games and the Big Ten challenge game. The NIT is a nice addition as we've recently begged off or have been passed over the more established holiday tournaments. Winning the NIT carries more cache then 10 Island Jams or Vegas Invitationals. The ACC Tournament is in Atlanta, so you're all welcome to crash at my place.

Here's an interview with Jeff Smith. [I had to pull the Jeff Smith video. It was screwing up the page. You can view it here.]

ACC Nation put up their preseason podcast.

A fair bit of intrigue regarding BC Guy and Tom Brady confidant Will McDonough (here and here). My college internship at WEEI overlapped with Will's time there (he was in high school). Even then he was pretty hard working and plugged in...so it's not a Brady thing.

Dudley back in Boston

Here is a clip of Jared Dudley at a basketball camp. He gets everyone up to date on his career and his appreciation for the people of Boston.

More videos of Clemson

The first one is the latest Ryan for Heisman spot.

These two are from Cubicle Jockey.

The ACC also put up a video of the game and has great footage of Jags in the locker room after the game.

You had to be there

John's camera doesn't exactly give you a closeup of the action, but he captured the moment and reaction of the BC fans in Clemson perfectly.

J-SPN

Very solid appearance by Jags on ESPN last night. Hit all his BC talking points and is really selling the school and the type of kid he wants. My favorite part is the "who?" about David Wright at the end.

Zone blocking for dummies

Much has been made of our movement to zone blocking. The hype has been somewhat misleading as we've had numerous elements of the zone scheme for years. However, Jags is implementing a more strict zone scheme fathered by current BC consultant Alex Gibbs. The coaches also recently took a trip to Green Bay to see how Jags' former pupils are using the scheme at the pro level. In all this talk, I am sure many are wondering "what is zone blocking?" In an over simplification from my amateur perspective, zone blocking can be summarized as the line working as one to move the defense in a certain direction, as opposed to each lineman having a specific assignment. For a much better explination you're better off reading the following links and watching this amateur but decent video.

BC vs BU

This is a short Youtube clip on the dividing line between BC territory and BU territory. For those longing for a touch of BC, they have interviews inside of Mary Ann's (although the smell doesn't come through the video).

Random Youtube video: Kige Ramsey likes BC

Kige Ramsey is sort of an internet celeb. He posts random Youtube videos of himself talking sports. Somehow it has caught on. Well here is his quick take on the ACC. (Thanks to the Eagle Insider readers for finding this gem.)

Remember when: Michael Vick at the Heights

I let others weigh in on Michael Vick's current firestorm. This is just a reminder that he put together the best game I've ever seen by a visiting QB at Alumni.
