A day in the life of coaches and other links

If you haven't already, do read Spencer Hall's day spent with the Mississippi State coaching staff. It confirms the grind that goes into the job and the energy needed to do it all well. What I found interesting is Mississippi State's building spree that includes a new player's lounge. There remains a facilities race in college football and BC is far, far behind. We will need an indoor practice facility in the next five years. Also, for those keeping hope that Dan Mullen might tire of facing Alabama and LSU annually and comeback to his native New England, this article is not going to help. The guy seems to like the SEC life. If he leaves, I don't think it will be for a job like BC.

Our current coach is No. 1 on Athlon's Hot Seat list.

The Heights followed up their Humphrey's work with a quote from Donahue.

BC will play St. John's at a neutral site in Connecticut at the Tigers' Class A Facility. Ticket details are here.

BC has interest in Ohio Tight End Greg Hart.

Nonconference previews and other links

CFN has previews up of all our non conference opponents (not including lower level Northeastern). You can read them here: Notre Dame | Central Michigan | Kent State

No love for Spaz on this blog. The BCI guys touched on the same topic. I think you'll see a BC related pattern when the media looks at our coaches. If they are new, little will be expected of them (see Jags and Spaz). Once they accomplish a little for a few seasons they will become a overrated (see TOB).

Sorta NSFW...EDSBS had a little fun with our new customized ticket marketing. (I am 32 and a father, yet this sort of childish humor still makes me smile.)

Is it all about Crane? and other links

I don't know if I buy the "it's all on Crane" angle developing. Look at the Georgia Tech game. He struggled and we still almost won. I think we need Crane to be good to win the division, but on a game to game basis we can compete regardless of how well he plays.

I wonder how accessible Ryan will be during the game? I hope he's in the box and not on the sidelines. His shadow is large enough already. We don't need Crane or Davis coming back to the bench and seeing the BC legend there.

The defense sounds worried about Taylor.

The Bobcats picked up Dudley's option.

I hadn't given much thought to Frantz Joseph until EDSBS's humorous post on him. Before he made a name for himself at FAU, he was a lightly regarded scout team member at BC. Being buried on the depth chart and homesickness curtailed his stay in Boston. His return to southern Florida has done wonders and he's put together a nice career. He's just another example of how hard it is to predict the physical and mental maturity of guys in their late teens.

For those who like wonky football stuff, check out Smart Football's post on line splits. It gets into the differences in a zone scheme like ours and a wide split team like Texas Tech. What is relevant to BC is that our current line coach (Bicknell Jr) worked at Texas Tech prior to coming back to BC.
